when would you say they come out

Years ago when I was serious about spot and stalk hunting black bears in NW Montana we never found much sign or had much action until May 15. The same time we need to take the cows off the meadows and go to grass in the hills. Like clock work and was not effected by the weather.

Maybe it has changed, but I doubt it.

We have been seeing them out now. They have been wandering around their dens and then back in agian, but they are out

I saw a fresh destroyed log today. Did not inspect for tracks, no bear tag till august 1st

We had a bear cub out the other day, was all alone and looked in very poor health, had to call division of wildlife and they came and took him to a shelter. They think maybe mom died after giving birth.

Grizzlies are out in MT but black bears we usually do not see til early to mid may. I just posted some trail cam pics I got off my trail cam today of a griz that is out.
