Is there anyone around laramie area that calls bear or lion? I would really like to do this. I think i would prefer to have a fox pro or minaska do the calling for me, especially for lion.
But, i don't have the money to buy one. Is there anyone willing to help a guy out? thanks, Dan

Gotta go with an electronic call for cougs?

Where is your sense of adventure????

Sit out there alone in the dark, nothing but a rabbit call and ............??

The coug sounds on the WT are the best though. The "aggressive female cougar" sound on a WT makes you skin crawl for days afterwards. It is "too real" for comfort.

That is the only reason I wanted to electronic on a lion. I can't make those sounds good enough with my voice. I have heard that You will get a better response from a cougar vocalization, than you would with a distress. Dying to see a wildlife caller, let alone use one to hunt. surely someone around here uses one for yotes at least? perhaps this is better suited elsewhere. I might end up making my own, since I do own a fancy mp3 player. Been toying with that idea for awhile. hmmmm...

Pied....,

You own a MP3.

Then you need to buy Rich Cronk's Cougar Call.

An open reed little job that comes with an cassette instruction tape. It is not a WT but at 30 bucks it sure is a great starter. Besides Rich is one first class gentleman!!

Whether your cougs respond to prey or coug vocals might depend on where you are in the food chain.

Our friend who hunts our reservation land believes that "valley cougs" (those living in settled areas) overlap their territories enough that coug vocals wear thin more quickly. He believes that prey based (say a good Jackrabbit squalls) hold up longer with cats living in such conditions.

I have seen first hand coug vocals work very well. Yet contrary to what we were told, Cougs can also get coug vocal shy (fast). They are no dummies.
