Homemade Shotgun plugs?

Ok, I sent my 18.5" 870 barrel off to Mike Orlen to get it milled & threaded for a choke. I want to leave my mag tube extension attached while hunting. Does anyone have any clever ideas for a homemade plug for the mag extension? Is it as simple as getting a dowel and cutting it to length? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

I've used a stick when I forgot to put mine back in on more than one occasion. It works. Straight part of a Plastic hanger or wooden dowel cut to length would probably work better though.

wooden dowel work pretty well i would think.

When I was young and really poor , I cut a pencil to the correct length and used it for a shotgun plug .

When I worked at a pawnshop, I pulled one apart with dried sunflower stalk shoved inside.
