shotgun optical sights

I did a search but didn't find much (feel free to point me towards an archived subject if necessary)...I've got a Benelli SBE II that I am going to add the Carlson Dead Coyote choke to. I have thought about getting optics for it, something like a red dot or holo type scope for fast work. What mounts and optics are recommended for a shotgun used for coyotes & turkey? The Benelli is also my regular bird gun and I would like to have a setup that allows for easy removal. I'm not opposed to spending some money to do it right.

What are some of you doing with optical sights on shotguns? Any photos of your setup? Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't recommend putting a scope on a shotgun for coyotes. If you can hit flying birds without a scope on your shotgun you will also be able to shoot coyotes without a scope on your shotgun. The scopes and red dot sights I have seen on shotguns you have to lift your head up off of the stock to see through them. Lifting your head off of the stock on a shotgun is not a good thing to practice. Shooting running coyotes that are going through brush is nothing like shooting a standing turkey in the head. If you want to do "fast work" with your bird hunting shotgun don't put sights on it for hunting coyotes.

I put a Bushnell Holosight on mine, right now it's wearing the slug barrel but the turkey barrel will go back on after deer season. Even with 1x magnification it does fine with slugs out to 100yrds. It is easily removed but the rail isn't. On my gun the rail sits high enough to block sights on both barrels, not sure that would be the case with yours.
The Burris Speedbead might be the best option for you. You won't get easy removal, but you shouldn't need to remove it even for bird hunting.

Here's how mine looks for comparison:

Yukon,

You might want to consider an EOTech sight on the Benelli.
I have two of the EOTech sights, and love them. The EOTech's are the only true HOLO sight made. The others a simple Red Dot sights. The EOTechs are parallax free from 22 yards to infinity, easy to use, and they have been selected for use on main battle rifles by many countries around the world.

Edit to add: EOTech designed the HOLO sight that Bushnell now makes under license. The Bushnell is a good one.

may want to go with something like a ghost sight set up
A scope on a scattergun well seems useless unless its a dedicated slug gun
fwiw
I have a leupold 2x7 on my slug gun

Thanks for the replies. I have used fiber optics and ghost rings on various guns and have an Eotech on another gun. I was considering an optical setup for a couple of reasons...1) the extended range that the new choke will give me requires a little more precision; 2) the variety of shooting positions that occurs when calling means that a good cheek weld is not always possible.

Scope was probably not the right title for this thread...optical sights would be more correct.

Yes, I'm new to this forum but a long time member of other forums like AR. Thanks for the welcome.

I'm an Aimpoint fan...

The original SBE receivers were not tapped so I had a local smith mount a rail base on mine for the Aimpoint. The rail is low enough that I can leave it on and it does not interfere with the view down the raised rib...
