Shotgun Kitty!!!

Well, Josh... You would be proud... First stand this morning, 6 minutes in. This big old female came in to DSG Cottontail!

I was standing up next to a mesquite, looked to the right, then looked back left and this cat was standing about 10 feet from the call at about 30 yards. The wind was blowing from my left to right. She came in on the left side, with the wind on her back. I raised my 870, and sent 3" #4 buck down range and knocked her straight down! To say I was pumped is a understatement!

Pretty good size female!

I like every thing I see in those pictures. The cat, your smile, the shot gun, your camo, the location, and even the cactus.
Looks like it is south of the Dragoons or around Benson.
Yep a picture is worth a thousand words.

I'll be showing one this winter too, if I can ever get out.

Good going!!

sweet! i so want a bobcat! she's beautiful. i'm growing more and more fond of using my shotgun on predators here in Alabama. most of the ones i'm fortunate enough to see are within 35 yds before i spot em. pretty thick stuff we hunt here. also, the #2 tungsten shot i'm using is easy on the hides. not that they are worth anything, but i skinned out a couple of shotgun killed coyotes recently to make pelts to display. and i killed a nice gray fox couple of days ago and it's in great shape for a mount. she had some really nice colors and i'm afraid my .243 would have buggered her up pretty bad. the Hornady 58gr. v-max i'm using has been great on coyotes and deer. small entry and no exits so far, but a 15lb. fox is a little small and thin skinned even for a 58gr. bullet. and i really want a bobcat to complete my display of predator mounts. working on it pretty hard and carry my shotgun alot out of concern for the condition of the pelt if i finally close the deal.

great job on the kitty. as i said, she's beautiful. congratulations! a well put together stand.

I got my first Coues deer in about 1970 in the Chiricahua's It is on my office wall.
Don't know where Sasabee is. Unless it is west of Tucson toward the gun range there. There is a three points there.
Was born and raised in Douglas,..winter there a few weeks of the year in February. Shoot CAS at Tombstone and Phoenix.

Good shooting!!

Oh, yeah... he gave that cat the business. I'm scanning left and all I hear is BOOM... I about had to change my camo pants. I wasn't expecting it to go down that quick. I'm thinkin, 1st stand... we'll just kinda get settled in. We won't see anything till later. Dang, guess I was wrong. That was a big cat... and I almost felt bad for Casey having to carry it all the way back to the truck... but it decided to do a Cholla Dive, so I wasn't touchin the thing.

As stated elsewhere well done Grasshopper. That's why I love calling bobcats, they just appear. What are you going to do with the cat?

Sounds like you guys need to make yourselves some amimal drags! Then if you don't want to drag it, you can wear it like a purse and it makes carrying it very easy.

Is this your first bobcat?

Thats a nice bobcat,Congrats!!!
I dont have alot of experience but from I know about it shotguns are the best for shootin cats. They drop dead in their tracks when those pellets hit em'.

rizzo-I need to make one of those. When you're about a mile away from the truck those bobcats start to get pretty heavy after a while.
