Am I crazy?

Do enough without them, you won't need them anymore. I have a pair of plugs tied to my hat so I don't have to look for them. And I usually leave my left plug in so I only have to put in my right before shooting. I still end up taking a shot now and then w/o 1 in, but I try not to.
 
I never wear protection on a stand. I don't know if the ringing is from the muzzleblast or my teninitus however. Huh? Come again. What?
 
I had mine on this morning and I love the electronic type
I have hearing damage in my left and I want to preserve what I have.
 
Never on stand but always wear it at the range. I know it isnt good for your ears not wearing it when you shoot on a stand but riding with your windows down isnt good for your ears either.
 
Ive thought I should wear them for the noise from the calling. After a day of hand calling my mouth is tired and my ears are ringing. Maybe I call too loud.
 
Yes, when I shoot my 6.5 Grendle especially. I use them often even when with my shotgun as I am just used to keeping them in my ears. I have not found them to be a detriment to my hunting at all and plus, I would rather miss an occasional hunting/environment cue than have irrepairable hearing damage. Just not worth it to me!
 
I always wear them when shooting for fun, if I'm on an indoor range I double up on hearing protection (plugs and muffs). I never wear them hunting though.

I wear a set of the walker game ear power quads on the range and when hunting. they aren't that great-one side doesn't work-but better than nothing.
 
Never have before, but after unloading my gun on one of my recent stands, my ear was ringing like it never has before. I think I will start...
 
I have never worn hearing protection in the field, but between too much "unprotected" shooting and too many rock concerts, not to mention industrial noise while working, the old hearing "just ain't what she used to be". So in an effort to better preserve what I have left, I started looking for a good "field model" of hearing protection (small, lightweight, etc.) Ran across these and picked up a pair to try them out. Haven't worn them yet while shooting, but they fit really securely and are comfortable, and are designed to allow "normal" sound through while blocking harmful sounds. I have tried conventional styled earplugs that perform like these before, but they were kind of a hassle, IE: always falling out, needing constant adjustment, etc. Never really liked the cheap foam earplugs either. The design of these holds them securely in your ear, and they are lightweight and don't seem like they will get in the way of field shooting. They are made by Surefire, and appear to be of good quality. This certainly isn't a "testimonial", because I haven't even used them yet in the field, but they seem like they could be a really good option. We'll see how they work & hold up, but they are inexpensive ($13 pair), so not that big of a deal if they don't work out, or to replace them periodically if they do.....

I wear the Peltor electronics when hunting, and I wear them and foam plugs at the range.
If you don't take care of your hearing now you'll miss it when it's gone.
