Took my SR 556 (piston operated) out for the first time today. It shot real well and the cleaning after firing seemed eaiser than with my R-15 VTR (gas operated) Is there anything different I need to know about this new platform. Has anyone had any experience with it
I've had my river SR 556 for over w year now and it has become my all time favorite. I have mine set up with a Burris black diamond scope with the ballistic mil dot. With hornady tap fpd preone with bipod I can set soars cans @ 100 & 200 yards and half gallonmilk jugs at 300&400 yards and use the different marks and consistently blow them up with one shot.my river will out shoot both my TC encores or any of my bolt guns. I have shot aprox. 1500 rounds with no problems and on paper with the taps shoot under inch groups. All you need to do special with it is clean the piston like they show you in the book and do a trigger job lol. Congrats on your new toy, I really love mine and the coyotes hate it.
Burkeboy34 thaks for the reply.
I have mine on the Nikon M-223. Been a lot posted lately on the M-223 but mine works just fine. I don' care if the individual dots are off the ballistic chart as long as I know what the true yardages are. Yes I am definetly going to do something w/the trigger.
I have to have at least a 10 power to see my water bottles @ 400. My eyes are not what they use 2 b lol. And I use my Burris on 14, makes it alot easier to smack yotes.
