Simmons 44 mag?

I have a 3-10X44 mag scope,it's been a good scope ,glass is pretty good.I use it in my 10/22 ,i think mine was made in the Philippines.I bought two of these at wal-mart "red tagged" many years ago for around $50. each.

well you probably can not compare the old Meade optics company Simmons 44 Mag series wich was made in the Philippines.

To the Newer Bushnell owned Simmons made in China 44 mag series scopes.

Same Simmons name but owned by Bushnell now and production is based in China. Construction is quite different.

Bushnell resurrected one of Meads/Simmons better selling Simmons series lines.

The only surviving Simmons still made in the Philippines is the WTC Whitetail Classic mostly in 6.5-20x50 and probably there best selling scope at $100.00.

I have a 6.5-20x44 from the Phillipines. It's pretty good for the price. The zero has wandered a few times an inch or two from hiking/hunting so I don't use it for hunting anymore but it's fine for the range. It's a backup scope now, sometimes use it for load development. I try not to use the turrets much as I suspect that's the weak point.

I have a NIB Simmons Master Series, 4x12 with a side focus. I put it on a 300 WSM. I haven't shot it yet so I can't give a report. If it holds up to the short mag, I'll give a report then.

I just bought one of these, and it seems real nice for the money. My question is, are all of the WTC scopes made in the Philippines? i.e. the same quality as the 6.5- 20.

I have a 6-24x44 side focus with target dials (master line)and have had no problems for the last 3 yrs Ive had it.

The original 44mag scopes were a good for the money Phillipines made scope that held up well and had decent glass . The new 44mag is a China made scope that does not compare in quality to the old discontinued line . I know a couple guys that bought them and have nothing good to say abought them , mostly distortion on higher powers . The closet thing to the old 44mag are the Weaver 40/44 series scopes .
