What would be the best bipod to put on my .223 r-15 18"CS that swivels for under $140?
For yote hunting do u think a swivel bipod is best or would u prefer to carry shooting sticks?
I'll be sitting(not prone), thanks for any tips and advice.

I prefer the stoney point shooting stick bipod. It is like the bogpod. I have found that the gun mounted harris bipods don't go tall enough for me to shoot from the sitting position unless you are hunched over and then they are not as stable. I do have some harris bipods for shooting coloney rats. But that is all they get used for. I have seen that stoney point makes a telescoping shooting stick that attaches to the front swivel and is easily removable. Have not tried one. But you would have to buy multipule attachments points for different guns. That is why I use the shooting sticks. One will cover many guns. As long as you don't leave them in the truck or at home. The last set that I bought are 2 piece telescoping that will go from 18" to 36". The other one goes from 28" to 48". I like the shorter one over the longer ones.

I ended up getting the 27" harris swivel bipod, if I dont like it on my R-15 I'll put it on the .308.

I agree with DeadDog. The Harris' are too short for me especially when set-up on a slope. The Stoney Point that attaches to the stud is the Rapid Pivot bipod. That's the one I use. It will swivel to level your rifle but also pivots left to right as well. You can kick the legs aopart or push them together like sticks but it moves with the rifle like a bipod--best of both worlds. If the Harris doesn't work out, try one.

I have the same rifle and find it pairs great with my predator sniper styx, but I think they went out of business so good luck finding them. They we're too simple and effective to market well I figure, not enough bells and whistles.

If I were to get the Stoney point rapid pivot bi-pod I would get the sitting one that goes from 25-43". I have one of each of the Stoney point bi-pod(non-attached) I really like the 16-38" but the 25-62" works good also.

I think the Harris bipod is a great tool for level shooting, but they really show their weakness when shooting from uneven surfaces. This is when shooting sticks really shine IMO. Shooting sticks really allow for easier adjustments when you need it quickly and quietly. I'm not saying that bipods arent useful (I use mine regularly) but in a hunting application, shooting sticks are gaining my respect.

I havent had an opportunity to use one of those. I figured it would help with canting the rifle, but I didnt see much more benefit. (not saying Im right though)

Whats your take on the benefits Jack?
