Anyone on here know who makes on that works? Ol'e Grizz needs and likes his coffee wilst chasing critters. I have the green Stanley, POS! The dang thing leaked all over the carpet in my 98 Chevy and yes the cap was on good and tight. I have to keep replacing the cap, and even when their new they still don't keep coffee warm let alone hot for long. Grizz

Mine is a Thermos (brand name) The rock is the modal of it. I usually put hot tap water in it for 15min or so before and I still have warm coffee at my 230 work break.

I've had 2 Stanleys and neither one of them kept coffee hot until mid morning.
I always filled it with hot water before I put coffee in????
I sure hope there is a GOOD answer to this

i have an old gott 1.5 qt with folding handles tat keeps coffee hot for 12hrs.if i put hot water in first it is best one i have ever tried

REI makes an awesome thermos. They are a bit spendy but I take mine winter camping and fill it at night with hot water. I keep it in the bottom of my sleeping bag in my tent all night and still have hot water in the morning. This is tent camping in the snowy mountains. Also, after all day hunting my cocoa is still smokin.

I've got a black and silver Thermos brand thermos that works great. Better than any of the Stanleys I've had. I had hot coffee 6 hours after filling it on zero degree day. I picked it up at Walmart along with one of their mugs which works great too.

I have several Stanley stainless thermos bottles. I use them for my coffee all year long. The one I use the most was made in 1998. #2 was also made in '98. My Mom bless her heart found me one at a yard sale made in 1978. It looks almost new and works as well as the other two. I don't use it to much 'cause it doesn't have a handle and is hard to carry without one.
The "Rules"
1) Preheat the thermos with HOT water.
2) Keep the stopper TIGHT!
3) NEVER use chlorine bleach to clean the thermos. The chlorine corrodes the aluminum in the stainless and causes pin holes in the liner; causing the bottle to loose vacuum. The liner usually won't leak. It just won't keep your stuff hot.
Keep in mind a "thermos" bottle works on a vacuum. No vacuum. No workie.

The only Stanley's worth a hoot date back to pre 1978 or so. I have several that work great. I have several more that are outstanding. They still take the corks, not a plastic screw in stopper.

One must shop well grasshoppers.

Mama got me a Cabela's bullet vacuum bottle that works great. It's even camo so I can lay it next to me in the duck blind and not worry about it.

whitetail as far as cleaning the best thing i have found is polident tablets for false teeth,i use two in warm water and leave them in over night, makes it nice and shiney no bad chemicals

I have a pair of Stanleys that were originally owned by my grandfather. They came as a set in a nice leather case with a metal sandwich tin in between. They both had the original cork stoppers. After sitting in my garage for years, last year I decided to take one out and use it. Unfortunately I was unable to get the cork stopper out. Like the genius I am, I applied too much force and broke the stopper off at the mouth of the bottle. I had to use a knife to cut out the piece that remained. Anyhow, I began the search for a new cork stopper. I sent Stanley an email detailing my plight. When I received a reply from CS asking for my mailing address I was more than elated. About a week later I received a brand new thermos in the mail! Apparently, they have a lifetime warranty, and they honor it. The new model doesn't have a cork and doesn't hold the sentimental value of the other thermos, but it works just fine for my purpose. I will continue to buy from Stanley because I appreciate good CS. If you have one that leaks, email them. I'm betting they will take care of it.

I have 3 Stanley Thermos bottles.. with varied success. The Coffee thermos works fine, however the wide mouthed ones for hot lunches for work seem to constantly need new tops. They get cold, and lunch is no fun. I dont use abbrasive anything for cleaning. Just have had bad luck I guess.

I haven't drank coffee for several years now. When I did, I used to use the glass lined thermoses. I generally work outdoors & in the winter my coffee would stay hot all day long. Downfall ... they can't handle being dropped. I went through several. Prewarming the thermos before pouring in your coffee helps considerably, also.

i owned a stanley for years without a minutes problem untill it rolled off the tracks of our crane + the crane ran over it,bought a new one + it would'nt keep things hot till 9:00 so i called stanley + they paid for shipping both ways, + now even without preheating will keep coffee hot till 6:00pm problem- call stanley!

The local hardware store usually carries those corks, That is where I got my last one when I needed it for my Dad. If you like I'll run over and pick one up.

Thanks for the offer man, but I found one already.

The best ones are the old ones that have a GLASS vacuum bottle. Thermos was the best brand name (that is why the name is synonymous with the jug today.

The new ones today, made with stainless steel, are junk.

Old Thermos bottles can be found at yard sales or "antique" stores (usually inside of a lunch box). They may seem a little pricey, but it is better than wasting money on junk.
