Getting ready to order the optic mount and would like to know what you guys have. 30mm or 1 inch and why. Difference in optic choice or personal preference, thanks luder- the piece by piece noob.....

I picked the scope before size.

I have a 1" Bushnell 3200 10x power for target/prairie dog shooting on a .204.

I have a 30mm Burris LRS TAC30 1-4x scope for banging steel at 50-100 yards on a QD mount for switchin' between .223 and a .22-250 possibly coyote hunting, haven't tried that setup yet.

I have a 1" Mueller 8.5-25x for targets/prairie dogs on a 22-250.

What do you plan to do with your optic and where do you want to compromise, if any?

I don't think there's really much difference between light transmission, etc. in the different tube size, just more elevation and windage travel on the bigger tube.

I am thinking I want to have a scope with buis attached to the rail, putting it on a dpms sportical flat top, I dont think she is going to be a long range gun (going cheap on my 1st one) If I got 2inch moa at 100 yards I would be happy.

Im always switching out and experimenting with different scopes, so having a 30mm mount and a set of Delrin ring reducers makes most sense for me. So if I want to mount a 30mm scope or 1 inch, the mount will handle both.

Sgtshultzy266, has a good idea. If I purchase another PEPR mount I will try that.
At the moment I have 2 PEPR and one set of XTR(IIRC)in use, and one RRA-(on the shelf) all 1"
Given the price of the PEPR these days and the amount they have gone up in four years, you might want to order a half dozen of them.

It's simple. If your scope has a 30mm tube then you have no choice then to use the 30mm mount. Same for a scope with a 1" tube can only use the 1" mount.

Choose your scope and buy the mount that will work on that scope.

You can like said above buy the 30mm with ring reducer and have a mount that will work on either. I would rather not use a reducer and get the mount that was the right fit for the scope.

I bought the RRA cantilevered mount form jobbobs that is very similar to the PEPR. It is very nice and I reccommend it as an alternative.

I have two in use and one waiting.
DPMS upper I have a 1" with a Redfield 2-7
RRA Coyote Carbine I have a 30mm with a Leupold VXR 3-9

I like these mounts because I can switch my kill light back and forth between either gun.

for now-I ordered the 1 inch as I have a spare nikon scope laying around. Anyone have buis and if so what would you reccomend for a fairly cheap price. Need front and rear for a dpms flat top...thanks for the input.

Check out Amazon. I bought one a couple months ago for $24. Reviews were good and I figured that I couldn't get burned too bad and shipping was free. I am impressed with the quality and I can't even see the 'Made in China' stamp.

Because they use stickers and it has been removed.
