Im getting the opportunity to go out to a friends uncles place there with about 10k acres in the middle of December. Looking to hopfully hunt a bunch of coyotes and prairie dogs too. Just curious if anyone on here lives in the area and knows a lil bit about the terrian and animals out there beings I've never been there before. Also what to expect weather wise and any other info you might have to add.

Thanks Brett

Cold ! Mid December is full out winter.I think there are some big coyote tournaments out there some time and that will make hunting TUFF at best, Big $$$$ lots of hunters.PD's stay out all year but they only stay out when the sun is shining and little wind, you will see the funniness in that statement when you get there.THE WIND WILL BLOW!!!!!!There could be 5' of snow or 2" of rain ??? In MT you only have to wait a few minuets for the weather to change. Glendive is mostly AG country you need to go north for "Prairie" and east for mountains and timber.CENTRAL Mt is known for sage brush.
GOOD luck you will want to return ASAP after your trip. The worst trip to Montana is better than the best trip in any other state.
REALLY!!! IT'S THAT GOOD.
OOPS
Forgot, You need a gun that will buck the wind and shoot 300 yards...
On a clear day on a high spot you can see 100 miles or MORE!

UMM Ok.. I think Jetman means WEST for mountians and timber.
Glendive has a little bit of everything. Lots of sage, or rough badland country. There is alot of farmland and also some riverbottom and brush. All this terrain can be found within a few minutes of town. Yes the wind does blow more than not but if it isn't crazy bad you won't have any trouble calling in it. Yes, There are alot of coyote hunts in the area but that doesn't make the hunting any more tough than usual. Just be smart about your setup and the wind and be patient. Yes a 300yrd gun would be ok. But if the coyotes are responding be confident at a couple hundred or closer and you will be fine. Good luck on your Trip to an awesome state!!!

Thanks for the info and tips, yeah wind is always the biggest enemy, especially for long range shooting. I will have my long range .243 and my .223. I shoot alot of steel from 200-830yds, so I have some practice at holding wind at certain distances which will help. Looks were about 20mi north of 94 on rt16.
