Broken Savage Axis stock

My cousin bought a savage axis when they initially came out (before the axis name). He had it about 8 months, used it little, and when we took a trip to SD the stock broke right behind the action as he was shouldering it to walk back to the truck. Savage did him right and ended up sending him a new gun and they mounted and sighted in his scope. Which seemed more than appropriate as the gun fell from his shoulder and landed on the barrel. This past weekend he was doing a little target practice, and with exactly 14 rounds through the gun it also broke in the same spot. Not exactly sure on the details on how this one broke, but after happening to him 2 times something smells defective. Anyone else hear of this happening?

Nope, haven't read of an Edge/Axis stock being prone to break just behind the receiver. However, this is the where the stock is the weakest with the rear of the trigger guard taking up so much of the wrist area of stock. I'm not really surprised by it breaking there.

My dad has one for a truck gun used and abused. No problems yet, I wondered about it when he bought it so I torqued it pretty hard. It did flex but it wasnt bad,

I just sold an Edge that had over 2,000 rds. through it. It still shoots super, but a friend wanted it for his daughter. No problems at all.
