Ghillie Suit?

what kind of camo is everybody wearing. Do i just need something that will blend in or should I go all out and buy a Ghillie Suit. Are they worth having or is regular camo just as good? If i need a ghillie suit then should i make one or buy one? If ghillie is what i need then lets see yours. Thanks in advance

I have hunted with both regular camo and Ghillie suit and killed coyotes both ways. My son gave me a Ghillie suit kit for Christmas and I can tell you this. 3000 knots is a lot of knots. It will take you several days to complete. It does however provide the ultimate in concealment.

If you are having trouble spooking your quarry or difficulty getting within range, then a ghillie suit will fix those problems. A ghillie suit will definitely let you get up close and personal. If you aren't having any problems then don't look for solutions you don't need. If you do opt for the suit, then get the GhilliesandStuff.com sniper BDU suit made in your preferred colors and with the options you feel would be of value.

I found that the suit gets caught on a lot and filled with the leaves and other things.. But that is a good thing, since it's more of the natural suroundings.

I found that most people wear to dark of camo. you can tell this if you go stand out in the same kinds of area's where you hunt and have someone take your picture when you are 30 yrds out. You will be surprised. Most of the time you can fix this by just washing your current camo with some bleach.
I also think that you can get some Military surplus used stuff off the internet for next to nothing and it's going to work just as good as anything.
I don't buy into the scent elimianation stuff, especially since a Coyote can smell you even if you sat there in a chemical weapons suit and a gas mask. I would make sure to use detergent that doesn't have brightners so that you don't glow in the field to the animals that can see the UV spectrum.
You could sit there in a Santa suit, as long as you sit still. my avitar pic to the left is of me with a white top.. I was not hunting in snow.. I was just proving a point, and I shot that simultanous double with both coyotes inside 60yrds. I also called almost all of my 30 killed coyotes, not using Rabbit sounds either. The first dog was at 60yrds, had no clue i was there, and when the first one was shot the second one charged the call and i shot it at 30yrd, all while wearing the white top and no facemask. Agian.. not in any snow, just grass and junipers.

I wear a 3-D jacket and pants from Cabelas. Blends in with most surroundings. My buddy wears a ghillie and yes, sticks and things gets stuck as heck on the material and he spends hours picking the stuff out after the hunt. My first yote I killed I was wearing plain ole BDUs and the yote never saw it coming.

That is a really good looking suit. You do vanish, but do you see the humor in the idea of you wearing a suit and sitting next to a plain black rifle?

As for the suites, If you go that way.. I would suggest after you wash it,(in non-uv brighteners) then cut the Jute to under 2 inches.. It will get snagged on a lot less.

You are right about the rifle sticking out like a sore thumb. The rifle in that pic was left un-camoflaged intentionally to show the difference. When I hunt the rifle has jute hanging from it as well.

Here is something you mite try before you go out and spend the bucks. I took an old Camo jacket that I didn't like the camo pattern and then took some old wore out camo . I cut the worn out camo into strips 8 inches long by 1 inch wide and hot glued the strips on in the middle. Like an upside down U shape. I randomly mixed the colors through out the jacket. I really like it and it cost me nothing but hot glue and a couple of hours. I also made matching pants and a Boonie Hat. My suit never collects brush or leaves. It will sometimes pull a strip off but that can easily be fixed.

M2D camo really blends in well also.
I got sick n tired of the gillies getting tangled in everything it touched including my kill suit from APC.

What pattern is that?

Bigg griz,
Thats the standard m2d pattern as they only have 1 design. The wallymarts up in ID carry it in stock thats where I got mine last year on a visit to my sons & was less than online orodering.
You can get the fabric only online to make coveralls & other stuff though.

Thanks 5spd. I found his vids on youtube and his site. The stuff looks legit. I may pick some up. I use Optifade Forest for everything, but I think I need something a little more geared to the open country and this stuff looks adaptable.
