Best tripod for a spotting scope? best window mount?

for the bucks Manfrotto is the way to go if you want a tripod with a lifetime of service... window mount, get one from any company.

Just got an outdoorsmans medium tripod with center extension and they're pistol grip head and panning attatchment. The tripod is really nice, but the pistol grip head and panning attatchment are going to be replaced with the outdoorsmans pan head. My 65mm Swarovski is too heavy and hard to control on the pistol grip. I would think the 50mm Nikon or Vortex Razor would work well with this set up. Not saying I can't use it just not ideal. I have a Velbon Carbon fiber tripod and fluid head and the outdoorsmans is about half the weight. Only bad thing is I can stand with the velbon tripod and have to crouch over with my straight spotter on the outdoorsmans. Would be perfect for and angled spotter.

I guess I do most of my glassing sitting anyways so shouldn't matter that much for the weight and space saving.

I bought my Nikon 15-45 spotting scope as a package deal, Camo scope, camo tripod, camo window mount, and soft side case, paid around $475 on sale at Sportsman Warehouse about 7 years ago.

Its hard to say unless ya know the size of the scope. What works great on a light Vortex Nomad isn't going to work so well on a 80mm Razor or Swarovski. All the brands have cheap an expensive models. IMO the head should be a higher priority than the pod.

I second the Cabelas (vanguard) window mount.

just bought me an outdoorsman medium tripod, with panning adapter, and pistol grip. pricey but well worth it. works great with my vortex viper hd 15-45. i also bought their bino adapter.
