7mm-08 rem brass

I ran into the same problem myself. Couldn't find any Remington or Winchester 7-08 brass anywhere, so I bit the bullet and paid big bucks for some Nosler brass. Nosler claims this brass is ready to reload out of the box with no prep needed. Well, that's not exactly the case, as half of the rounds I reloaded would not chamber in the rifle. I will resize the cases completely when I get back to reloading them. I have reloaded a gazillion rounds using new Remington or Winchester brass and the only thing I do before reloading is to inspect them and if the neck looks like it needs it, I will run it in the die just far enough to straighten out as needed. Having said all that, the last time I checked, Midsouth had some 50 round boxes of Nosler brass, if you need some.

If you don't need it head stamped 7-08 you can always take .308 brass and neck it down, simple as running it in your FL die.

FWIW, Grafs has the prvi partisan 7mm08 brass. Ordered and received it last week. Its decently priced for a bag of 100 pcs. While I've never tried the prvi 7mm08 brass before, have used a fair amount of their brass in other cartridges such as the 6.5x55 and 7x57 for awhile now. Its not Lapua, LOL, but I've no complaints about it, other than I've had some that when I went to resize it after shooting it just once, thought it was a might bit on the hard side.

I may just bite the bullet and buy some Lapua 308 and size it down. I dont have a 308 so that wont be too confusing. Is there anything to watch for or do you just run it through a 7mm-08 sizer die, trim to lenth then reload?

Unless you have a tight neck chamber, I don't see where you would need to turn, and certainly not ream. Necking up brass could cause a donut and a ream. Otherwise, I haven't seen it, IME.

I have a lot of .308 brass I sized down to 7-08 and have not had to do any neck turning.
Loaded and the targets don't know the difference.

FWIW, I used what I recall was FederaL, Remington, Winchester and one other brand (I can't remember) .308 brass to resize to 7mm-08. Made some reloads with it, 4 per brand of brass. Except for the brass all my reloads were the same. I noticed some differences on the point of impact on my 100 yd target. Was into my third set of four when I tried to put bullet of one of my unfired rounds down neck of a spent piece....wouldn't go all the way in....tried same thing in another brand of spent brass and it bullet easily went in. Discovered, the thicknesss in the brands neck did make a difference. Sorry, not sure which brand was thinner/thicker.

My point is: sometimes you may need to neck-turn a brass when its resized down from 308 to 7mm-08
