Bullet seating depth

Ive been reloading for a number of years but I have a question about seating depth. Do most of you try to touch the lands or is there a certain distance from the lands you try to achieve. I've personally always tried about .015 off the lands, I appreciate any input.

I avoid "just touching the lands", because bullets vary a few thou in length, so some will touch and some won't... I either jam them 0.010" or I jump them ~0.015"

That is sound advice. This stuff about "just kissing" the lands is BS. Either jam them or jump them a bit, but don't flirt with the ~0.000 it won't happen consistantly. Won't take you long to figure out what your rig likes.

I don't like to jam bullet if it is a hunting rifle you might find yourself in a jam

carry a cleaning rod so you can knock the stuck bullets out of your barrel. I just went on a wolf hunt and had this problem I carried a piece of cleaning rod in my pack for when it would happen and it happened 3 different times when I unloaded my rifle. I got home and seated my bullets a little deeper and now my groups opened up and I have to start tinkering with my load again. Just keep those thing in mind too.
