Bolt action in 22 Hi-Power

Not that I know of but it is a fairly common caliber in foreign drillings and combination guns as the 5.6x52mm Rimmed.

Was pretty popular at one time. Way before my time however. People took them on safari for use on lions and tigers. Quite a few worked pretty well and yet some of them, alas, did not. After a few hunters found out that you need more than speed to reliably anchor dangerous game by getting killed by wounded animals favor of the round died pretty quick.

Back when I got started in reloading Speer still made .228 bullets for the Hi-Power. Not sure anyone does anymore.

Hornady, Hawk and Buffalo Arms have bullets, Sellior & Bellot imports loaded ammo. You could easily build a bolt gun on a Savage 340, Rem 788, Win 54 or any bolt action that originally came in 30-30.
It would make a lot more sense to do it in 219 Zipper just for the .224 bullets as there are plenty heavy bullets in .224 now.

I've been looking at Euro combo guns in 22 Highpower/5.6x52R so I've spent some time looking at the cartridge.

Did the .22 high power come originally .228 and the 5.6x52 in .227. Maybe I mixed it up but remember looking at all the .22x bullet options once.

The original Highpower came in .227 with original ammunition bullets micing .226-.227 U.S. Cartridge, Rem. and Win.

In Waters article he had good luck shooting heavier .224 bullets in his Savage 99 with a good barrel that miced .227 groove and .221 bore. I have found this worked in my 6.5x58R with a .260 bore shooting .257 bullets.
