Boyd's stocks???

I've always had pretty good service from Boyd's and their stocks have always been top notch but I'm wondering if all this extra business and short on help is going to effect quality. I can say it is definitely showing in their customer service. I been waiting on a stock for two weeks now and it hasn't shipped yet. I am hoping when I do receive it that the quality will still be up to par.

Their prices are hard to beat but their service is really starting to lack. When I called today to ask about my order, and not to sound racist, but the lady that spoke to me sounded maybe Iranian. In South Dakota?????

Lots of stock company options out there. No need to bang your head against the wall.
But then again, I hate shopping a wally world too.

This is a Boyd's Featherweight Thumbhole Stock I just ordered and installed on my new Marlin X-7 in .223. I ordered the stock, and received it in less than a week. The barreled action dropped right in, and fit perfectly. For just $99.00 I don't see how they could have provided a better product at a cheaper price. I'm very pleased with both it and the service I received from Boyd's.

I need to take another picture of it since I've given it 4 coats of hand rubbed Minwax Paste Wax. The finish rivals my Weatherby Mark V DeLuxe.

Just saying I hope their quality doesn't suffer because of lack of help. I was told by the lady that took my order, after several weeks of no answered calls, that Boyd's were way under staffed. Sometimes when a company is understaffed and the orders are piling up, quality suffers.

I doubt quality will suffer because most all the cutting and inletting is performed by computer controlled and pre programmed CNC machinery. Yes, it still takes talent to set up and run them. But there isn't much to do as far as speeding up the process. It could result in longer wait times for product however.

I think I was lucky to receive my stock in such a timely fashion, because it was an uncommon model. If it had been for a Savage 110, or a Remington Model 700 it could have taken longer if it was out of stock. Be patient, it's a product worth waiting for.

Ive ordered 2 stocks from them and you can expect your stock 2 weeks after they post the charge to your email,it usually took a month from a block of wood to your door.

I have one on order they do need to add extra customer service people that answer the phone.
Wait times of anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes to get a life body

My only experience with one of their product/s was a stock I bought for my Savage 17 WSM Bmag. I bought it from one of their dealers that had what I wanted instock and they were local to me so I had it in my hands same day I purchased it.

It was such a huge, significant, upgrade from the total POS that came on my Bmag I was thrilled to have it. Is it MCM or Manners quality or even HS Precision, of course not but I never expected it to be either. Especially, considering it only cost a little over hundred bucks and best part was I had it in my hands the very same day.

Would I buy another, if it's for a rimfire, absolutely and I wouldn't even think twice. For centerfires, I'm just not much of a wood guy, so probably not.

Received my Pro Varmint this afternoon. At first glance it looks pretty good. Took it out of the box and first off, the barrel channel is for a standard barrel so it will need to be opened up. No big deal. Next the mag box fits but super tight and as of yet, I can't get the trigger guard into the stock. Looks like there's going to be some fitting issues to address before the barreled action is going to fit into the stock. So much for 100% drop-in. I guess for a hundred bucks it still better than the tupperware that came on it.

I got my thumbhole stock today, 8 days after ordering it. It is for my savage axis, the front action screw is too short, I will need to buy one that is about 1/4" longer, not a big deal.
But my magazine won't snap in properly either. I can push it out with my fingers by pushing down on it with the bolt opened. Hopefully some sanding and we are in good shape. If not I'm sure I'm stuck with it due to their crappy customer service.

Did anyone else have these same issues?

I just got a stock for my savage axis a few weeks ago. Like you said the wait was long but I was told up front that they are made to order and to expect 2-3 week wait time. Quality was great and it brought my groups in a good but. My worst 3 shot group at 100yrds was 1/2 inch the other day. That was on bags not a sled.

All the issues are fixed, action is bedded and fits snug. Next is a trip to the range for some load testing. First will be the 120 A-Max with varget. Just a copy of Hornady's factory load.
