I cant get this stuff to group good in my ar15 223. at 100 yards i have a grapefruit at best size group with a few flyers at times. Is this russian steel cased stuff even meant to realy hold good groups that far? scope is a primary arms mildot 4x16

The ammunition is not meant for accuracy. It's meant for price point.

How does it shoot with regular American made ammunition? If you don't know you really do need to start there for a baseline IMHO.

How do you get Tula to Shoot? Answer is =
Pull steel bullets, run through sizer without expander / decapper.Lubed of coarse, re seat Brass bullet of your choice, then they shoot great. of same grain weight, of coarse.

I am going to try the 55gr hornady rounds tmw, I will have a grape fruit size group with tula and then have one fly about 6 to 9 inches out of the group. I am not going to trry this stuff anymore as I heard a lot of horror stories on it being rough on the rifle. please excuse my ignorance as I just recently got done building this gun and am used to shotguns and archery.

All I can say is I'd give that steel cased ammo to someone I didn't like. Ritch would drive all night to whack me if I shot steel in these guns.

thanks you guys

I talked to Stan pate and he recommended the federal match grades, what would you recommend for factory ammo?

That stuff is made to pray and spray, hoping you'll hit your target. Kind'a like what the ragheads do when fighting.

I don't use much factory ammo, but I did shoot several boxes of Australian outback 55 gr blitzking and it did really well. No groups over 1". I like black hills a lot. I usually use it for sight in and break in. Some of it shoots about as well as my handloads. I also like hornady 55 gr vmax. I would not however buy a box of 53 gr right now. It had a lot of true flyers for me, like 3 in a little bunch and one 5" away in good shooting conditions. A guy that lives in Odessa that I hunt with also tried them in his Les Baer with the same result. Maybe a bad lot of ammo, idk.

I was going to try the fiocchi 55gr psp rounds or maybe even the hornady 55gr psp rounds...I have a 1x9 twist barrel so I heard 55gr is best.

These guys all had great suggestions, stick with the brand name ammo, find a round that shoots well in your rifle, and is effective on coyotes terminally...It will take a bit but you and your rifle deserve good ammo... Post a pic of your build and some of your dogs when you put some down..Sorry for verbally bit slappin ya!!LOL

It's looks like you been around here a long time. Are you new to Ar's? anyway the Tula stuff was meant to shoot at people not paper. It is the most produced ammo in the world and used in 90% of armed conflict around the globe. Not accurate and the steel case stuff expands when discharged but doesn't shrink back like brass does, So your extractor will soon give up on you, it doesn't like pulling steel cases out of the chamber. AK's are built to shoot steel case ammo, not so much the AR's. If you want to shoot "cheap steel case ammo" get a Ruger Mini-30, they are a blast to shoot and will eat that stuff up.

yes totaly new to ar's went out today and shot some 55gr hornday fmj rounds until i get some hornady soft points in mail. make shift rest nothing perfect. will post pics later as im working now but i had a 2inch circle at 100 yards i was aiming at and all were scattered in that 2 inch circle so i guess it would be a 2inch group at 100 yards. when i get a better rest i will see if i can get them tighter but i think it should be ok for hunting.
