Hey guys. Looking for some infor on n350 powder in 44mag. Haven't been able to find any 2400 for a while so I picked 2lbs of it up to use. I shoot 240gr XTPs and 240 gr Missouri bullet company smashers. They have a Brunel hardness of 18 did a bit of looking but numbers are way off. Just wondering what anyone burns through their revolver? Mines a 6-1/2" RedHawk. I do like my full house loads. I run 21gr 2400 behind my 240 XTPs

Is Viht n350 your only option? Any chance you could find any Hodgdon LilGun??

I never had vary good luck with those faster powders. I settled on a VERY healthy dose of 2400 w/240's and never shot anything else but I have a friend that uses a lot of Hodgdon LilGun w/240's and he gets great fps and accuracy out of it.

No I don't see much pistol powder around. Found a 8lb jug of unique and have been running 12gr of it at about 1300fps book. I don't have much 2400 left and till I find more that's what I have

I don't have any n350 loads for you, but Unique will give you some good target loads, especially with the Missouri Bullets pills. If you need full bore loads, H110 is another powder that will work well for full bore loads.

How's the Unique working out for you?

Unique was the first powder I ever loaded for my 44. I used to shoot my 44 almost every day and the idea of only using about half as much powder, making a pound last nearly twice as long, sounded like a great idea but I never could get any consistency with my loads using it. That's when I switched to a load given to me by a friend that used 2400 and I never looked back. Been using it ever since.

Some people have great luck with unique. I must have been doing something wrong because I did not.

If you've got 8lbs of Unique, that's a lot of Unique, so hopefully you have better luck with it than I did. One thing that's nice about it is it sure flows like water through the measure.

Ya a guy local has 110 but you use more of that then 2400. The unique is good. I load some at 10gr for my chic to shoot the rest I load at 12gr for me.

My Midway Load map lists a starting load of 10.5 grains of N350 and a top load of 11.7 grains.
A midrange load of 11.1gr gets you a speed of 1251fps.

Ya I seen 10-12gr. Just looking for anyone who's used it. Wondering if it swings real bad from grain to grain. I know unique will jump pressure fast.

Another powder that shoot well out of my super redhawk 44 with 240 xtp's is IMR 4227. I also shoot 2400 and h110 with h110 being my goto powder for hunting. My deer bullet is a cast lee 310gc bullet.
I have shot unique for plinking loads but I use it in my 41mag with a lyman 410459 bullet keith style that I hollow point for deer.

With the 240gr Missouri Bullet and with 250 and 255 grain Lead Cast I use 10 grains of Unique. That has been a staple since the mid 70s The N350 with 12.0 grains is almost identical. I have used N340 also with the 250 Lead cast and it has been good too. The Vhit Powders usually burn cleaner. Each Gun is different so you may have to tinker a little to get your sweet spot.
If you jump up to the 300 Cast or the (305 gr Rimrock sells em) Or even the 310 Best to go to the N110 instead of H110 Use a magnum Primer too. Start at 17 grains of the N110
With a 300 XTP you can get good results with 18.0 grains Its better to go cast I think, because it will give you higher velocity with less pressure. The higher BH should not give any leading. N110 is higher in price but if the LGS doesn't have it, look on gunbot.net to find it.
IF you ever want some store bought Look to Garrett Cartridges of Texas.com The 310 gr is wonderful in the Redhawk.

Accurate 4100 has worked very well for me shooting a Lyman 429421 out of a 6-1/2" Blackhawk. I never chronographed it but I estimate the velocity to be about 1250 to 1300 fps. Best 25-yard group to date is a little over 1-1/2 inch.

I use H-110 in my 44 Mag, 357 Mag, and 460 Mag. I have been using 24.0gr. charge with a Hornady 240gr. XTP out of my 6.5" S&W 629 Classic, and have been getting good groups at 50 yards. I was going to back this load down to around 23.5gr. on the advice of a buddy who thinks my groups will get even better. I have not gotten a chance to chrono this load yet. I shot some factory Hornady 240 XTP's through the chrono last year and they clocked in at 1327fps.

I've been wanting to try some heavier bullets but something about the240s that I just enjoy. This set of days off I'm gonna load some from 11.5 up and see what I can do with them
