Shotgun Bipod???

I am looking for a bipod for my shotgun. I am not looing to shoot off of it just to keep my shotgun barrel out of the dirt. I don't want to add much weight or break the bank. It is just to keep it out of the snow and dirt. Any suggestions? I have seen a hard plastic type that attaches to the barrel but cannot find where they are sold. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Varmint ALS sticks are pretty good. Another suggestion that was given to me is one of those construction spring clamps. Just to keep the barrel out of the dirt.

In my experience with shotguns, predators are really on the move if not a out and out grey hound dash for the caller. In all cases were you have your shotgun sitting on a Bi pod, you are going to be hard pressed to get on target.

Everyone is different in their particular hunting circumstances, and I was hunting in close cover.

Fast swinging is the proper mind set in close cover.

Now, for testing shot gun patterns and point of impact vs aim, I always shoot off a bi pod while I am standing up.

Short bipods on shotguns are handy for exactly what you mentioned - keeping your shotty out of the wet grass, snow, mud...

And when you sit it down in a hurry to grab your rifle for the second coyote at 100 yards pack your barrel full of mud? Use your tongue to run your ecaller?

I have always shot from a sitting position, shoot on my off shoulder if need be. Multiple coyotes coming in, standing up, ruins the whole stand.

You can shoot sitting down on most stools. Sitting on a bucket that is used to dove hunt off of using a swivel seat works very well, put the e caller in the bucket along with decoy.

We never had snow or mud to contend with where I hunted which was high or low dessert.

The clip-on in the Amazon link above is available from Natchez for $5.95. 1-800-251-7839 item #C15LITLBP70

I dont have a link, just saw it in their catalog.

I have been using the Us Hunter clip on unit for a bunch of years. I only "loose it" when someone i hunt with see's it and Borrow's it. lol (i give it to them and buy another)

I sit on a chair that is only 6" off the ground, (just enough to keep the cactus off your backside)
I place the shotgun in my lap, the feet on the end of the barrel and point it down wind. The feet on it, keeps the end out of the mud, sand, snow, ect.

I keep the rifle off to the side on shooting sticks.

I find that when i need a shotgun, you can't reach for it, when they are on you, they are on you fast. If i need the rifle, i have time to reach of is and the then it stays in my lap with the shotgun barrel out of the dirt on the feet.

I have shot a few doubles, and a coyote bobcat double this way. I find that if you are not sitting with the shotgun pointing down wind, you will be soon enough if something comes in to shotgun range. Then you just raise it and fire.

As for the US Hunter shotgun feet.. These guys are the worst advertisers ever.. They should be selling piles of these things.. I have a spare that i keep just in case something happens to mine and they stop selling it. For $15 or less, it's something you won't regret buying if you carry two guns or more to a stand. (I also carry a small 22lr pistol for those that aren't dead yet when i get to them. I don't want to ruin a pelt shooting a coyote or cat with a shotgun or rifle round at point blank. A 22lr in through the ear is fast and doesn't add a hole to the pelt.)

Well I sit on a turkey lounger. I also spent a few years as an 11B, so I know how to treat my weapon. I am also fairly proficient with my tongue.

Either buy the US Hunter or do what I did and make your own using a plastic spring clamp like this: http://www.amazon.com/Bessey-XC1-2-Clippix-Plastic-Spring/dp/B0057PUSX2/ref=sr_1_6?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1447735364&sr=1-6&keywords=4+1%2F2%22+plastic+spring+clamp, remove the red tips, then get some foam pipe insulation (I forgot what diameter) like this: http://www.amazon.com/M-D-Building-Produ...words=foam+tube and slide it over each clamp so the teeth don't mark up the gun. Clamp it to the forend/magazine tube cap and you're good to go for free/a few dollars.

I religiously take a strutter folding chair with me, im skinny guy so my a$$ does not have much "padding" and i must have some back support, 30 minute stands sitting hunched over is no fun at all. I rest mine on my knee, but a buddy of mine made a cheap pair of shooting sticks with 2 pieces of cane and a nail driven through them. They work just dandy.

I use one of those cheap ramline spring loaded bipods that clips on to the barrel of a 22. I used a dremel tool to open up the jaws. Works great keeping the barrel out of the snow and dirt. I keep the shotgun shouldered with the barrel resting on the bipod and my rifle sitting on my shooting sticks and the butt.
