Mossberg 935 Choke selection?

I just picked up a used MB 935, 3.5" 12 ga. I need to get a choke for it to shoot #4 Buck. I only have 3" shells right now. I've read that these are back bored pretty large and are almost 10ga sized. Would a .688 choke be a better place to start?

Right now I plan on only shooting 3 and 3.5" shells in #4 Buck. I think my brother found some lead T shot we may try reloading for it at a later point in time. May even try BB for fox at a later date also.

Any suggestions? This will be used for predators only. I understand they have a reputation for not feeding/ejecting spent hulls with lighter loads. I have another shotgun for lighter loads and such so hopefully that will not be an issue.

My 935 throws a good pattern of #4 buck with a Carlson dead coyote choke. Only light loads mine won't cycle are 2 3/4" bird shot. it turns into a single shot then. Dealer told me that it would cycle light loads after a good break in but I think he's wrong.

A .688" constriction is .087" and too tight for No. Four Buck. Look for something in the .720" range give or take. That's a starting place, the work is on you to find a sweet spot.

My Carlsons Dead Coyote choke has always patterned well out of my mossberg with Winchester SuperX #4 buck, even with 2-3/4" shells which is all i can find around here. I shot two shots at a 10" target at 50yds and 20/54 pellets were within that "vital" circle with others clustered just outside. I'm happy with that. Makes for a killer choke for high flying crows with light game loads too lol

Well, I tried to pattern my used/new to me gun today. It wouldn't go bang. Also tried to load the tube magazine from the bottom and couldn't get 3" shells in.

I did manage to get a used choke tube measuring .710" for it. The Carlson's Dead coyote seems to be the choke tube for it going by reading post on the web. Carlson's DC tube does seem to have a very restrictive bore.

I took the gun back to the gunstore, they offered me a full refund, but we decided to send it back to the factory for repairs. Well that will give me some time to get a choke tube to try and some 3.5" #4 buck.

I keep reading good things about the new Carlson coyote tube.I tried their old tube years ago. That one did not work with any buckshot load I tried with my 835.Think I'll give the new version a try.
