I shot this boar for a friend that wanted him off of this plot. He has a little different bloodline than most I shoot and I have seen others in this area that look similar. The guys around here call these "Piney Woods Rooters" and after doing some reading I have seen them referenced as such in other areas.
Very shaggy coat and a very prominent ridge across his back. He also had a very large and thick chest area.
I thought this hog was some strain of Razorback after reading this in an article about them:
"The most common color for feral hogs is black. Boars have long, bristly hair, high shoulders, a sloping rump, long, skinny legs, and small hips. The massive wedge-shaped head with short, hairy, erect ears ends in a pointed snout."
(IR Defense 19mm Mark II scope and Federal 6.8 SPC 90 grain Speer Gold Dot Bonded Soft Point Ammo)
