Pistol/Rifle/Underfolder AK 47

I'm really struggling with which AK to get. I have never even shot one in all of my years of shooting. I like the idea of a rifle and I like the idea of a pistol also. Here is my question....What do you guys feel about an underfolder to kind of split the difference in the rifle and pistol options. Is that the best of both worlds? Or, is it flimsy as a rifle and awkward as a pistol. Thanks for any positive advice at all because I am brand new to the AK 47! Thanks!

I love my AK rifle with "dong" grip handguard. You can hold it like a vertical grip, but I trimmed it shorter so mag changes wouldn't hit it. AR/AK pistols are awkward to me so I prefer the rifle for comfort and accuracy.

We have an under folder in the shop. It doesn't feel flimsy at all to me, but I'm like you, never shot one and know very little about them either.

I'm new to the ak arena also. I decided to pick up a pistol and SBR it. Originally I wanted to start with a mini draco but had difficulty finding one so I settled on a zastava pap m92. This is how i purchased it with the upgraded fore grip, red dot and Manticore night brake. I'm planning on a side folder with push button folding device.

What I hope it to look like when finished. Haven't decided if I want to go fde or not.

Ive got a draco, took it on as trade a while back. I havent shot it yet bur just messing with it, its a joke of a "pistol". I could shoot it as such, but besides making noise its of limited use.

It has a 'brace' as a side folder, but it doesnt exactly feel like a 1000 yard gun. And according to the atf its a felony if i shoulder it.

But its pretty neat.

I plan on sbr

I've shot a couple, one an underfolder and one a traditional wood stock. I would go with the underfolder for a SHTF or truck gun, it makes it pretty small and portable but is very uncomfortable to shoot, your cheek rest is a small steel rod that bounces of you cheek bone. The wood stock is a better range gun, much more comfortable but adds the extra length. Depends on your use.

I have an ak underfolder, does not feel flimsy to me, I like shooting it, not an issue for me, but I have heard some complaints about the cheek weld on the stock. I shoot it with the iron sights, and have no problems. the folding parts seem well made to me, not subject to failing.

I'd rather have a side folding stock do to the design of the stock. I've shot a Golani Galil Sporter which is about as close to an AK as I've ever shot besides an SKS. I'm talking design wise though. I was squeezing the trigger fairly fast with the stock folded and it was very manageable and pretty comfortable to shoot. But of course it was a .223 so that's to be expected. But it wasn't as bad as you'd think. I actually had a chance to buy that rifle for $300 and I didn't do it. Still regret that one.

Take a look at the AK63D, green mountain barrel and American milled receiver. It will shoot coyote size targets at 386yds with tulammo. I use it as my pistol in heavy brush bear country, folded it shoulders very well.
