I cant find much talk here about the Ruger ihunt blue tooth speaker and the ruger sounds on their app. I have this set up and it is really easy to use and there are a lot of the sounds that are great. The app also lets you make your own play list and combine different sound and you can add in silent timed spaces and change the volume on any of your sounds in the play list. I have not done much coyote calling with it yet but the crow calls work like a bomb. I didnt know there was as many crows on our farm as there are until i started using these crow sounds. Sometimes i get 50 or better crows come in in just a few minits are starting the caller. The tfew times i used rabbit distress i had crows and buzzards both come to it. I had no idea that buzzards could be called in like that, lol.
I was just wondering why there are not more people here talking about calling with their cell phone and a blue tooth speaker? Have anyone used a set up like this ? and how do you rate it compared to your regular dedicated calls? I do have a flextone caller and it works ok but is not loud enough and i dont really care for many of the sounds that are on it.I was thinking about buying a fox pro but after trying this ihunt i have not seen the need to yet. I have been playing around with predator calling for years but never really known what i was doing.I was only using mouth calls up until recently and had fair luck with them. I lived in AZ for a year and coyotes were much easier to call than our coyotes here in south bama. We do have a lot of bobcats here and the foxes come and go depending on how many coyotes are around it seems like. We have florida panthers here too,we see them more often than the bobcats but they are not leagle to shoot. Our fish and game says we dont have any here,we are right on the state line with the florida pan handle. But game cameras dont lie, lots of people are getting pics of panthers on their game cams now.It is not unusual to have them cross the road in broad daylight even. I would love to call one up even if we cant shoot them.

I bought the ruger brand ihunt speaker. I got mine at a local gun shop by i have seen them for sale at walmart too.I think you can buy them direct from Ruger online also. I paid $49 for mine. You download the ihunt free version app witch has a lot of the calls locked but as soon as you tether the blue tooth on your phone to the speaker it will unlock all of the calls. If you use another brand of bluetooth speaker then you have to pay to unlock all the sounds.I get a pretty good distance away from the speaker if you can keep it line of site or elevate the speaker. The speaker is real light weight and has a carry handle on it. It uses four C cell batteries. It has great volume, more than enough for where i hunt but i dont know how the volume compares with callers like some of the fox pro's. The speaker is nice and clear except just a few sounds that i have to cut the volume down a little to keep it from distorting but most of the sounds i can play at full volume without loseing sound quality. I am not a pro caller so i am hopeing some of the guys here with a lot of experiance with different callers and have used the ihunt will chime in with their thoughts on it.

for someone who's trying to get started on a budget i dont see it being a problem. sure its not perfect, but i don't see a point in bagging on someone who doesnt have $150-$200 to throw at an entry level fox pro.

i used to call crows with a radio shack horn speaker wired up to my smartphone with 50' of wire on it before the days of bluetooth everything. was it amazing, not really, but it sure got the crow's attention - and i'm sure it was yards better than one of those cheap knockoff digital units and i was able to download a LOT of sound files off the web.

LoL,,i bought the cell phone just to use the ihunt with. It has not even been activated so it wont make phone calls. I just used my wifi in the house to download the program onto the phone. I dont have a need for cell service myself,i am disabled and never go anywhere by myself other than here on the farm. Wife and kids all have their own cell phones and they all keep the things glued to their hands all day, that is why i am out hunting as much as i can, lol.I may get me a good caller like a fox pro one day but as of right now i dont see the need. I live in the deep south and it is very thick brushy woods and most fields are not very big so the calling is pretty much a short range thing and it is really hard to get them to come out of the edge of the woods except at night.

Thanks Randy. I have not had much problem with the blue tooth working ok on mine, but i do try and get the call up off the ground and 40-50 yards is about all i would normally need here where i live anyway. I think how well the blue tooth works will depend on the phone you are using mostly.I agree, most of the sounds are not anything most of us have a use for but there is still a good selectioMy wife has n to choose from that seem very nice. I also have a lot of other sounds i have downloaded to my phone. I may even record a few of my own with lip squeaks and a hand call. I have call a lot when i was younger in AZ and that is worlds apart from calling here in south bama. It is many times harder here in the south. I think i call in just as many or more, just do not ever see them because they can get close to you or the call without ever coming out in the open. I am thinking a decoy dog may help a good bit.Problem is,i only have 3 pit bulls and a half wolf half american pit for dogs to use as a decoy and i dont think any of them are going to be very attractive to a coyote, lol. My wife has a little yappy lap mutt that would work great but i am kind of attached to my home so i dont think ill try that. I have not got out to try the call again, way too hot right now but wont be long now till the weather will be right. We also have a big cat that we have seen several times on our land. We cant shoot those here but i sure would love to call it up and maybe get a picture of it. I am excited about calling now for sure. I have never been set up as well as i am now for some serious calling and have a few tricks i want to try out.
