troy par???

alright i'm going to start by saying i live in new york so real a AR is out.i'm not buying a neutered gun.
i've been looking for a rifle for close range yote max pushing it 150 yards with a quick follow up.i came across this troy par the other night.i watched a few utubes videos but would like some input here anyone have or try one?
open to any other advice on a close range quick follow up gun.i gave the shotty a go but would rather get a little more distance.
my yote rifle is a remington 700 22-250 which is overkill.

I think I would hunt down a Remington 7615 before that PAR abortion. Henry is building a 223 lever gun now, as well...the "Long Ranger."

IDK, the PAR is "kinda" cool. At least its legal in your state. Decent accuracy and handlods might improve that too. If your use to a pump shotgun it shouldn't cause a problem.

Dont know what rock I've been under lately, but didnt even know these things existed! Of interest here in PA, as even though we can own AR's, etc. legally, we haven't been given the total green light to hunt with them yet. Legislation has been passed and signed to allow semi rifles for hunting in some forms, but no pistols yet, and the Game Commission is working towards regulations on allowing them for hunting. Looks like it's gonna happen after forever without, AND on a lib Dem gov's watch too!?!?

To your point - I basically agree with the other posters above. I may be biased cuz- 1. in PA, the Rem 760 may as well be our State Big Game Rifle, and 2. I've never used an AR for hunting. I think the stocks, ergonomics, hand carriability (if that's a word?) etc. of the 760 are just nicer for in the woods. I'm sure there'll be some howling over that statement, but although the AR is WAY more than battle proven (and I own a few for the record), I like the way my 760 just fits my hand for one hand carry, instant up-to-the-eye-and-shoulder"ability", etc. JMHO. I have a 7615 too, and the belled mag well is right on the carry point for my hand, and really in the way, esp. with the short barrel balance it has. Not so sure more than five shots would ever get used in the East anyhow.

Other guns such as levers and other semi's may serve your purposes too as mentioned. If you can find an accurate Mini 14/30, the Rem 740/742's, even an AK may do the job for you at those distances. I'd be curious as to your solution since till now, we have a similar problem, of different causes. Then again, a NY Safe Act AR may be just what you want, minus any misgivings about your dictators impositions on your life. Looks like they take most of AR parts, and can be changed to AR when your Commie regime ends up there.

FWIW.

thanks guys looks like i have a lot of research to do.I found a shop close by that has a troy and i'm pretty sure there's a ruger mini 14 as well.the reason i won't buy a ny compliant ar is there double the non-compliant.the reviews on the browning blr where not that good.
funny you mentioned the remington 760 mike b i'm going to check out a 3006 for still hunting deer.
keep them coming i'm not jumping into this like i did the 22-250 bolt

I have no experience with the rifle you are inquiring about but i am curious as to why you say your 22-250 is overkill.

i'm hunting in tight areas with shots from 50-75 yards and a few pockets with about 100-150 very few of these areas.i'm not looking to pray and spray.i just think a shorter quicker gun would be better.i've called in a few[4] and couldn't get on them before they disappeared.it's not the caliber it's the gun remington 700

Not the caliber, its the gun???????

Cut the barrel down to the length you want! You may loose some velocity but that does not sound like a issue to you. Then with the money you save, you can put it into better glass. Or add a new trigger if needed. And when they shorten the barrel you can always have the barrel threaded so if the Hearing Protection Bill goes through you would be a step ahead if you wanted to suppresser it. Just a thought!

check out some of the compact model rifles. shorter barrel and shorter stock. real nice maneuverable rifles. tikka makes one, as does ruger and t/c compass might fall into that category. probably some other compacts too.

no, cutting the barrel and smoothing up the cut is not that easy. lol. well, actually the cutting is easy. but it will need a good crown put on it. best done with a lathe.

thanks i'm going to leave that gun alone.i did get to shoot a mini 14 today at the range seemed like a smooth tight gun.the only complaint the owner had was it dented the brass when it ejected.I'm going to a few gun shops tomorrow to see whats out there, but that mini 14 is high on the list right now.
i'm not sure if there all the same but someone let me shoot a darkstorm? ny compliant AR it jammed twice.
