Benelli R1 rifles

Does anyone here know anything about these rifles? I sure love my benelli shotguns. Just wondering about the accuracy and dependability on the R1?

Every article I read on these they're throwing 3" plus groups at 100 yards. i dont know if the field testers are using rests or not but that enough to scare me away.

I haven't seen those kinds of reports. Most reports I've seen have both the Benelli and the Browning Short Trac shooting groups of 1 1/2" - 2" at 100 yards from the bench. The old BAR's still shoot well under that, usually much closer to 1" or less with good ammo.

Randy,

I know that these rifles have interchangeable barrels between the 300 Win Mag, and what ever the other caliber they are chambered for is (30-06 I think). My question is since the design of this feature is similar to the way their shotguns barrels are held into the reciever, wouldn't this greatly affect your point of impact from shot to shot? Most rifles have a threaded barrel to prevent this, so to me it seems like a bit of a design flaw. The system they use is called the "Torque Locking System" and it uses tension to keep the barrel in place. Seems to work fine for a 10/22, but on a high recoil round like a 300 Win Mag, I have my doubts. Personally, I love my Benelli shotgun, but am not too wild about their new rifles.
