Baiting

I shot this big female coyote last night around 10:30 on the bait pile. She was in full estrus. Range was 162 yds. at the shot. I had the Mars MT1000 at 5.6 power which kept the video from being as sharp as it would have been if I'd left the scope on 2.8 native power, but it made the shot a little easier.

Nice going, DoubleUp with the new scope. Even at my 80 yard site the 5.6x zoom gives me a larger view, though like you mentioned, a slightly less resolution. I am beginning to think I should have got the 5x lens instead.

We got more snow last night and had a couple critters out looking for a meal. I didn't have any bait out. This coyote (if he's the same one) has been giving me fits this season. He shows up whenever then leaves and doesn't return sometimes for 10 days and even weeks. I can't seem to meet up with him.

In magnification there is always a trade-off between FOV and Native Mag. With the 5x of the 75mm lens you would have about 25 ft. FOV at 80 yds. and around 19 ft. at 60 yds. which might be enough if you don't need a follow up or have more than one target. I guess it all comes down to what we are comfortable with.

No real snow left here in NW Gawgaa, but winds and low temps pushed it to -15 below here last night. Even the racoons gave up on the bait pile early. One coyote came through at 4:30am but kept on moving on

Our bait pile kind of got taken over. I sent my son down there shortly after this picture. He shot 6 times, said he got one. He was really grinning when he got back to the house though.

Now that puts the smackdown on them!😁
Not the best video quality but i got him @ 408 yards using the ballistic calculator on my iray rh50r... I didnt catch him in time on the first picture checking the bait pile but he made the mistake of coming back short time later with my rifle on tripod beside the door waiting for actionView attachment 26479View attachment 26480

I have 6" steel target set up to the left of where the bait is set at, I feel pretty comfortable shooting that distance since I have shot at that target plenty of times this last year.. not saying i dont miss here an there but I have even taken few coons and opossums @ 380-400 yards using the ballistic calculator on scope
