Old Hunter, but new to Coyote/Hog Hunting

As an OG (retiring on Social Security & Medicare this year), a former gun shop owner and professor, I am building my first predator gun. I've taken my share of 'coon, 'possums and skunks through trapping, along with a few coyotes that have found their way into a leg hold. Last spring I went on my first Hog Hunt (Link to American Hunter) and will be going back this year, but with a new rifle.

ATI Alpha-Max (why an entry level, because it is light and does what I'll need it to do).
Athlon 25P-250 Thermal Scope
Reliant Simple Man Suppressor

My call is a basic Western Rivers Mantis Pro 100, along with couple of mouth calls

The above ain't going to win any braggin' rights, but I hope they'll reduce the 'yote population at our Missouri and down a few hogs in Oklahoma.

Welcome! One of my favorite coyote/hog rifles (aside from the Dtech 243WSSM) was a plain Jane .223 Mforgery w.4.5-14 Burris w/e1 reticle; short, fast and accurate.

Every coyote is a new hunter at some point. As we make our own mistakes as time rolls on. Learn from them. In my latter years. I have found an older alpha female, being the wariest of them all. To ME, when I bagged one. I had accomplished something worthwhile. Good hunting.

Finally was able to pick up the can. Did the barrel break-in. Next step will be dialing in the thermal and hunting some hogs and dogs.

Follow directions on the installation of your QD mount. If the crossbolt gets stretched (too much tension on QD cam) the mount will loosen over time. A zero shift will occur, leaving you wondering what's happened.
