Baiting

Thanks 6! I put a dremel with polishing wheel on the bolt yesterday and it smoothed out quite a bit. The ASC mag didn't help any, but I got an older Magpul mag instead of the new one and put it in the Ruger. I figured the spring might be weakened a little on the older one and it helped on smoothing out the feeding. I will probably pull the stock again and make sure i have the factory trigger as light as it will go.
 
Coyote hunting is once again slow, but I have been a little busy editing my wife's hog hunting video. I had to find a program that will accept iphone videos so that I could edit the footage. ClipChamp works well.

She took this hog in June of last year, 2025. I posted it in the Hog Hunting section if anyone is bored and wants to check it out.

Was sitting around the firepit Saturday night and heard some howling fairly close, so I sent a buddy out who was visiting and he shot this one. The coyote was reluctant to commit to the open area by the bait pile and he took the shot while back behind some brush and limbs. The 308 hit its target but I think the bullet deflected a bit. Put it down and he finished it with a close shot after approaching.

Once again, the neighborhood and homestead is a little safer.

Moral of this story.....if you are going to shoot through brush, bring enough rifle. ;)

I agree 1996. I think it helps up to a point and probably did make a difference this time. It was the shooters 2nd coyote kill and he got a little impatient I'd guess. I would have waited till it came out in the open but that's just me
 
Well, last night I squeezed the trigger on yet another coyote, a male at the 80 yard bait site. The OneLeaf MT1000 and 6.5 Grendel continues to perform. I once again used a 90 gr. Nosler Varmageddon that gets the job done. Tiny entry and slightly over a quarter size exit. I am about ready to wrap up my season unless another one shows up soon.
