I bought a 2023 Tacoma new, it's 3+ years old now and doing great.

Just bought a 2026 RAV4 monday. We'll see how it does but expectations for longevity for both are high

I'm not sure about the newer turbocharged engines, but they have a great track record with past offerings and they maintain a high resale value.
 
Mine is a V6 naturally aspirated. The 4th gen Tacos all have turbos or hybrid (I think, might be an actual EV. Not sure)

And they've been having problems. Probably why my truck is worth more today than it was 2 years ago
 
The RAV4 is a hybrid, all 26's are. That's for my wife & a hybrid is ideal for the type of driving she typically does

A hybrid I'm fine with. An EV requires lifestyle changes & I'm not fine with that. Great for people who are but we aren't among them

The turbo V6 in the 3rd gen Tundras aren't looking as good. They ought to forget about that engine and bring back the time tested 5.7 V8 they had in previous Tundras for new model years..

Gas turbsky engines dont last, I know a turbo for the ecoboost's are like 7K and they usaually take out the engine they they let loose. Toyota needs to bring back engines like the 22RE. My 84' Hi lux well its more of a rock crawler/trail rig now is still kicking.
 
Yep, the Tundras from 22 on have engine failures. Lots of transmission problems too

Unfortunately the EPA requirements have been pushing manufacturers into these smaller turbo engines. Hell, the Nissan Rogue is now a 3 cylinder turbo

With the 4th gen Tacomas (24 on) they did make some long requested improvements. But going to a 4 cyl turbo engine really didn't appeal to the traditional Taco buyers & now those have had problems

I bet if they added just one offering with a naturally aspirated engine, whether a 4 cyl or a V6, they'd find that it would outself every over version

Hopefully all the emissions for diesels gets rolled back so they start offering a small reliable engine like they still do around the world. Heck Toyota went to IFS front suspension in 86' because Americans like a nice ride. Yet still make straight axle trucks over seas. :rolleyes:

I think what really should happen is a major rollback of EPA authority over our markets. The EPA is nothing more than a front group for sustainable delveopment of the United Nations helping to regulate the United States into the ground under the guise of protecting the environment, safety and security. It's a facade.

Anyway, I really like the looks of the new off-road 4-Runner but that turbo-4cylinder/hybird is not something I'd want, atleast not until it's been around a while and proven reliable. Toyota has the capability to make some fantastic stuff and they should be. Even domestic automakers could be making better cars and trucks, but it's like everything is engineered to fail as opposed to last so people have to buy more.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) announced Friday it will begin a limited pilot program using the Flock Safety Raven audio detection system in select areas of the city.

The system, which uses acoustic sensors to identify sounds associated with gunfire and other potential public safety threats, is the latest Flock Safety technology to be used by the department alongside its existing license plate reader camera network. According to FWPD, the technology can also recognize sounds tied to fireworks, street takeovers, and certain distress-related incidents.

When the system identifies a qualifying sound, it analyzes the audio signature and sends law enforcement an approximate location, allowing officers to respond more quickly, including in situations where no 911 call has been made.

As with all things they implement it will continue to expand.

yup LOL. I was getting some parts for my wifes 93 Chevy. Kid behind the parts counter asked what engine I said 350. He asked what is that. I thought WTF. 5.7L he said O ok.

This whole flock thing will be part of our dystopian future.
 
I'm seriously considering an old classic truck or jeep I can actually change the points, plugs, and condenser on.
The old 78 Ford F-250. It's all but bomb proof, especially when it comes to electronics. A buddy and I rebuilt a 429, and removed the ignition control module and replaced with a Flame Thrower ignition coil. The module used to burn out about every 6 months, no issues with the coil so far.

that's what I'm talking about, I had a 78 F-150, but the 250 is a much better choice! Congrats on the rock chuck... Nice rifle, what cartridge are you shooting in the AR?
