A few hogs in the hay field last night

My neighbor down the road said he had some hogs in the hayfield a few days ago, so I went to check it out last night. I spotted them from the top of the hill about 350 yards away, but the wind was blowing towards them. So, I tried to work an angle to get past them and get down wind of them. Took a little time in the tall wet grass but got in for a shot. There was a slight rise and I could see 2 just over the crest, but couldn’t see the rest. First shot dropped a sow, and as as the pigs headed for the woods one stopped and got him.

Thinking they were all gone, I left my sticks and moved out to find the first one. Just as I got over the rise I could see a big hog in the moon light. I just had time to turn the recorder back on to take a couple of free hand shots. The first shot for sure was a hit maybe the second. Unfortunately those 2 shots were all the ammo I had and couldn’t get a finishing shot. He looked to be limping off last I saw him, and could not find him in the tall grass. Will check back for buzzards.

With all the rain we have had the field is wet, and the humidity is stifling!

The first 2 were laying where they stood, a sow about 125-150 pounds and a pig about the size of a Jack Russell.

Notb that im a proponent of making this suffer, but with as much damage as they do, i might make an exception.
I put out live traps for ground squirrels and mice up on my utah property simply because they seem to work best. Unfortunately i only go up every other weekend so anything in them tends to starve to death. . Oh well.
