Dug out a rare one today

Going through the safes today inspecting and giving everything a fresh wipe down trying to keep up with this gawd awful humidity.

This one is still unfired and has just turned 20 years old. I have owned the only 2 I have ever seen. Sold its twin maybe 18 years ago to a member of the Ruger Forum. These were the second variation of limited runs done by Black Rock Distributors and they did several calibers but not always in the same counts. The 280 I was told , only had 25-35 rifles made.

I also have its “little” brother…a 25-06 that is the last standard M77 MkII rifle made by Ruger. (not counting the VT model as those were made for a few years along side the Hawkeye rifles.) This rifle was manufactured about a year and a half after the changeover from the MkII to the Hawkeye rifles. There is another story for that one. The 25-06 has been fired though and is an absolute hammer with 90 grain Sierra’s! It was built by one gunsmith at the factory on a special order vs being through several stations/hands which Im sure is the reason it prints tiny little groups!

So here’s the 280…

I have a 25-06 in a Sendero that shoots spectacularly. I had a .280 in a Rem 7400 semi auto. It was a great gun but I sold it because of internet horror story's about them wearing out prematurely. I probably never would have worn it out....
 
Put some glass on that and go pull the trigger! One of your grandkids is going to leave it in the bed of the truck for weeks a time. Bad joke, sorry. Go enjoy it, what are you waiting for? I like 7mm, pull a trigger on a Rem mag and a 7-08. Note: she's purdy.
 
To be honest , I don’t know what to do with it. My tastes have changed over the years since buying it and having a few custom rifles built may have spoiled me. The only person I have to hand stuff down to is a niece who loves to deer hunt. She is getting her grandpa’s old deer rifle handed down to her from me this month. Im sure she’ll be set up with some really nice stuff as I get older.
