Two inches is pretty average around here for the length of a coyote track. Those are definitely coyotes because the two middle toe pads are touching. Most of the time, a coyote won't leave a toe nail impression, except in mud as you see here, and often just the middle two toes. Tne tracks also nearly overlap, and I bet if you went back there and looked down the tracks, you'd see that are nearly all in a straight line - a characteristic of wolves, coyotes and a few breeds of dogs. Most dogs, in comparison, have more round prints, all toes splay out, usually show some nails, and are quite obviously on alternating sides of a straight line running along the trail.
