WMR Powder

I have a keg of powder, that says WMR 8 It is an 8 lb keg, so I'm assuming that is what the 8 is. What is the burn rate on it say compared to retumbo, H1000 or H870. Thanks Butcher

Lots of guys would pay you a premium for that powder. Winchester stopped selling it when they came out with the short mags, because that's the powder they use in those cartridges.

As to where you'll find data, I don't know. The burn rate is similar to RL22. It's a ball powder, and it meters quite well.

Here's a burn rate chart: http://www.larrywillis.com/PowderChart.html

You can't buy it anymore, so don't get hooked on it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I bought a pound of WMR waaaaay back and still have some left. Better yet, it came with a load data sheet!!!!

I'm not going to type in the whole sheet but will list the calibers it covers and you can tell me which you need data for and then I'll post those.

I have about 6 pounds of the stuff, I shoot it thru my 22/6mm. I've been thinking of using it in my 300WSM. It was discontinued way before the WSM's came out. I still have one source for getting it. I've been using H414 with great results in the 300 but really want to try some loads with the WMR. If it is the same powder used in the WSM's, they put 68.5 grains in the 300WSM load.

I have a 7mm Ultra Mag, and was thinking of using it on that. Heck I'd sell it, but I have to go through a dealer just to sell it. I have about 8 one 5 pound can unopened, and one with 2 pounds missing, same lot # of reloder 15 I want to sell, but same thing. It has to be mailed out by an ffl. I usually pay my ffl 25 bucks for a gun, but have not ask him about powder. I hear it is quite the hassle. Anyway, I'm planning on trying in the Ultra Mag, and was wondering where to start. The 8 lb can of WMR is unopened also. Thanks Butcher

Jack,
I'll let you argue with the folks at our UPS Store. I don't know about FEDEX, but I took some RL-15 to get an actual shipping cost, and was told since 911 I could not ship it. In fact, I was going to sell it to a fellow on this site, for $10 a pound, postage included. They told me about the hazmat, and also said I could not send it myself, I had to go through an FFL. Maybe it differs state to state. Butcher
