A friend was taking about a full metal jacket for the 204 ruger. I looked on midway and did not find a thing. Is there is FMJ for the 204? I would only use them for finishing off the animal.
Is he going to war?! FMJ is the last bullet I choose to shoot. Finish off the animal? I do that with the first shot /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
YEAH WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THIS "FINISHING OFF A ANIMAL".............you take one bullet to hunt then quickly load another type bullet as a finisher????? How much of that WI cheese did you eat today???? That is probably hands down the dumbest [beeep] I have heard today CONGRATS
Not trying to pull this thread off topic but I have not had the need to finish off a coyote too often. In my experience they either go down hard and are dead by the time I get to them or they are runners which either a. get away b. pile up and are dead when I get to them or c. finished off with a second shot from the same place I took the first shot.
Rarely have I ever seen a coyote need to be finished off like some big game animals might need to their tenacity/will to live or get away has them moving till the time they expire.
I still carry a High Standard .22LR Pistol just in case.
It's also my opinion that there isn't much need for a FMJ bullet in predator or varmint shooting period. You can create a scenario to try and justify the use of these bullets, but for me I'd just find a better solution with another combination of caliber and proper bullet choice.
I've had to finsish off a few coyotes, but I would never use a FMJ, I finsished one off with a single shot to the head with a 17 remington 25 ghrain HP at about 10 feet WOW what a mistake, and I've used fair sized rocks, But the best thing to use is a 22 pistol, Yes sometimes you have to give the coup de grace, but not that often.
