Any diagrams/notes/instructions/tips for doing a good job. I want to study this before, so I don't bugger it up if I get the chance to put it into practice.

The easiest and best way (if you do get lucky enough) is to ice down the carcass and let the taxidermist who will be doing your mount skin it, especially if you aren't already a competent taxidermy skinner. It's not like a coyote or bobcat where if you mess up you can just go shoot another one.

The skinning part is the easy part. Just dont cut holes in the hide. The fleshing part is the tricky part. You want to get as much of the meat of the hide as possible. If you dont feal comfortable about that, best thing is to get the hide to a taxidermist as soon as possible after the kill. You also want, like nmleon said, is to keep the hide as cool as possible. Also dont forget that Mt Lion is good eating.
