I'll tell you that the 22 caliber 60g Sierra is more of a deer bullet than a predator bullet. I used them on one hunting trip. I had a supurbly accurate custom 22/250 with a custom barrel on it that would thread a needle at 100 yards. I had the 22/250 loaded with a hot load of IMR 4350 with the 60's and they clocked right at 3500 fps or a touch more. The morning's first coyote came in broadside, cominig in from down wind at 100 yards. I barked and he slammed on the breaks to a dead stop, I immediately center punched him with a shot on the back of the lungs or stomach. He took off, I spotted him again at about 175 trotting, I put the cross hair just off the front of the shoulder and touched off the trigger. At the shot, I saw dirt fly right behind him with him taking off at the trot. I was sitting there trying to regain my composure, this was starting to really hurt my ego a little, when he appeared at about 250 licking his side. I put the crosshair on top of his shoulder and at the shot, he folded up. When we picked up the coyote, he had 3 holes in him, all good hits, just a little too far back. All of these shots would have been kill shots with the 55g Sierra Spt or 55g BTHP.
A couple of stands later, here comes another yote, I hit him in the lungs, down and then up he goes. Then OFF he goes...dang! We found him 100 yards out.
I went back to the Sierra 55g BTHP, and you will never have trouble with that bullet opening up, but you will be able to penetrate the sholders and hip joints if you need to. Quartering shots are also great with that bullet.
