Adjustable homemade shooting sticks

I am making a set of homemade shooting sticks out of the wooden dowel rods but I wanted them to be adjustable to different heights for different shooting positions. I went to Home Depot and got some screw in inserts for cabinet making. You drill a hole and then use an Allen wrench to screw them in. I also found some 1" long set screws that fit. I plan on cutting the dowel rods at the heights that I need them and then connect them using these fasteners. If I need a different height I can just unscrew a section to change the height easily. Do you guys think that this will work as planned? If not what would you do differently?

Thanks for your advice.

Or you could do like I did, I used varmint als recipe for shooting sticks and just move the legs close togeather or spread apart to raise or lower them, seems to work pretty good.

Howler's got the right idea. Hinge the shooting sticks with castration bands

Or you can drill a hole through the legs and use a bolt as the hinge:

and then you can adjust the height by spreading the legs or moving them closer together.

I combined Varmint Als idea with fiberglass fence posts that you can get a a farm supply. They are light and small. They are about 4' long
