had been watching as nice roe deer buck for about two weeks and new where he was comming out of the wood to feed most days.our roe deer onl weigh up to 60 pounds here in scotland with 45 to 50 being more common.so at 10.30 am i got set up along a fence line overlooking his favored feeding area i had my ruger vt in 243 over my lap and planned to just sit and wait.anyway 7 hours past and i was staring to wonder if i wuld see him.then i just spotted his antlers above some tall grass.i waited untill he emerged from cover and held for a high heart and lung shot.i sqeezed the trigger and he collapsed.he had a good 6 points and was the biggest deer i have shot.i used a 58 grain hornady v max i love this round for our small roe deer wouldnt use it on anything big but for roe its great never an exit wound found on the deer and usually they dont have a mark on them i also like the fact that nothing passes through the deer making for a very safe round.anyway that was my 10 so far this year gonig to give em a brake for a while and concentrate on rabbits.
