10mm 1911

Well I have a Kimber 10mm 1911 on the way and I am contemplating loads for it. I would like to develop a load capable of taking whitetails. I actually had a S&W 10mm years ago. I remember it shot well, but I did not like the gun. I do have some handloads I loaded for that S&W. Those loads are 9 grains of Longshot with 180 grain Gold Dots. That load seems hot to me. I figure I got the data from an old manual because it's not like me to exceede a book load by much.

Any 10mm loads or input from those with experience with 10mm 1911 pistols would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Matt

I don't have my notes handy for jacketed bullets, but my normal plinking loads are 5.5 grains of 231 with a 200 hard cast. I've carried it a couple of times for deer, but never got serious. I wouldn't worry about poking a deer with the 200's.
