1200 lumen LED light

For 50 bucks??? What the heck, go for if. Sounds like it will light up the night, for sure. I'm wondering when the overseas industry comes up with a copy of the Pred. Lite. at a fraction of the asking price here in the states.
 
Looks like it would be a good flood light.. I don't think it would throw though, but who knows it might. But for 50 bucks.. you can have a good light. I would pick one just to have another light.. You can never have to many lights you know.
 
Chinese lumens must not be as bright as American lumens. I have compared a 65 lumen Surefire to a stated 65 lumen Cree LED from China, and there was no comparison. The Surefire was MUCH brighter.

For $50, it's worth a shot I guess.

I'd like to clarify a few things so nobody is confused.
A lumen is a lumen, regardless of the country you measure it in, and is a measurement of light output.
Cree, is an American company that manufactures the worlds brightest LEDs in North Carolina.
Surefire, a company that makes(?) and sells flashlights, uses Cree LEDs, but the companies website gives no clues as to where they are made. Most American manufacturers have a link on their website for "careers". http://flashlightnews.org/story528.shtml

That's why I asked if anyone has used it. If you look at the sellers website, there is a video of someone walking backwards with it shining on a wall. The 5 LED's are throwing a pretty wide beam up close, but as they keep backing up, the center of the beam keeps focusing tighter and tighter.
 
I have not used that light, but, for what it's worth, they had to cut corners somewhere, to get that low of price!

Most 1200 lights are 3 times more. Check out candlepower forum and see if any one has reviewed it there yet.
 
I know what you're saying but...Where do you cut corners on a threaded aluminum tube with o-rings? Can't be labor as they're all made in China. Maybe it's that dang middle man?

Edit to add: I didn't find any mention of it on CP forum.

Well I ordered one of these just because, I dont have much for other lights and thought I might want to try night hunting with a light. Sorry not up on the tech jargon but from what I found from shinning 3 different lights on a paneled wall at appx 10ft is the China 950 on low was about the same as a Fenix L2D or a Sure fire G2 with a P61 bulb on high, With the 950 on mid or high there is no comparison in brightness and appears to have a tighter center beam and not as much spill.

L2D is rated at 180 lumens on high.
G2 with P61 Bulb 120 lumens
China 950 is rated 1200 lumens on high so I am guessing somewhere ballpark 120-180 lumens low 600-800 mid and 1200 high.
 
I placed the order on Nov 23rd and received this morning Nov 26th from China.
Light $48.98 extra batteries $15.48 shipping $22 I hate shipping charges total $85.36.
So between the 3 light settings 150ish/600ish/1200 lumens I hope one is suitable for shinning here.
One thing I have found is with the different brightness settings as well as the strobe and SOS is getting the right light setting without toggleing thru all the different modes.
I have only had it about 45 minutes and havnt really played with it much so cant really comment on its use but hope to get out one of these nights and give it a try.
 
A few other observations appx comparison nothing exact just rough measurements and weights.
I would rate material quality atleast if not better then a mag light quality atleast as good as my Fenix L2D.
950 OAL 8" Head dia 2 3/16" smidge smaller then 2 cell mag light.
950 main body is app 1"
950 appx weight with batteries 12oz
2 cell mag light with batteries 23oz

smilin is correct, surefire uses a CREE led. Which are extremely bright regardless of what country they are sold out of
 
I can help you out on the lumen rating used by these china lights vs surefire and other more expensive brands. The more expensive brands usually but not always measure their devices with actual lumen output measurements taken at the emitter. The less expensive light use theoretical lumen output calculations. This means that on paper the emitter can reach this rating but it never will in the provided platform. Usually it equates to something like 1200 lumens in real world measurements would be around 300 to 400 lumens at the emitter.
I own a wf016 form deal extreme and I love it. It is a bit brighter than a fenix tk11. Think it is actual 300 lumens instead of 800.

Did you take it out hunting? Did it cook any retinas?
 
Mn has a stupid law no light use until after Jan 1st, I did order a XL250 red that I should have by monday so I should have something better to compare with.
 
Received the Red XL250 the other day, Still havnt got to put it in the field Mn says after Jan 1. First impression light body quality is good but no better the chinese 950. Inside the house at appx 10ft shined on a white wall I thought the XL250 had a tighter beam looked much brighter but then I took them with me to go plow snow I found a urban area with about a 50yd distance although there was snow falling and artificial light/security lights parking lot etc. so not real dark the 950 was dimmer on low then the 250 but appeared brighter on both med and high at 50yds the 250 didnt appear to make the snow on the ground any brighter while the white 950 on both med/high definately lit up the ground and surrounding trees.

Both lights took appx 3 days to receive from date of order.

950 67.82 shipped included the light charger and 2 batteries although it requires 2 to operate so there is no spare.

XL250 $119.95 shipped included charger both ac and a cigarette lighter adapter, 2 batteries one being a spare, scope mount and a universal mount. and the remote tail cap.

Until I can use both for actual hunting the jury is still out although for the price the 950 makes a pretty darn good white rechargeable flashlight even if you dont use it for hunting.

disclaimer:I am a newb to night hunting so I dont know whats really wanted/required in a light to start with.
