17 HMR "Scope Cam" Chuck Hunt

My last 17 HMR video went viral and P.E.T.A. made sure to let me know how they felt about that.
In this video, I'm using my 17 HMR and my new camera. I tried many different shots like, Short range shooting by hiding in the trees. Long shots out past 200 yards. Shooting sticks ( shaky ) shooting off hand -

- ( very shaky ) but most shots were from a bench. Just working the bolt would shake the camera. The second day a storm was moving in, so the wind was extremely bad and everyone can see how the wind effects that light weight bullet.
As I got the feel for where I was hitting, I tried to take head shots. But hitting a chuck at 200 yards is a challenge, then add in a breeze or wind and the light weight 17 makes hunting a "real" challenge.
A rim fire makes for a rough hunt. I hope you like this video and can see how your 17 would work at range and in the wind.
If you are offended by a chuck running 20 feet before he falls over giving a tail flag salute, then don't watch.
My .20 Vartarg can flip a chuck 10 inches into the air, but this 17 HMR can't hit as hard.

Thank you.
I had fun making the video. The strong wind made it hard to shoot the second day. I wanted to break out a heavy kicking rifle to buck the wind.
But this was a 17 HMR video, so I just kept shooting.

Nice video and some good shooting.

Your home-made unit seems to be working very well for you. I'm anxious to see it in action at night.

Great job.

Thank you Dave.
It was fun shooting tell the wind started blowing. But I was out to make a rim fire video. So neither rain, shine or wind stopped production.

I'm also anxious to see how things will work at night. I've tried 2 or 3 short hunts to see how every thing is working. It looks good. But when the camera view is the only thing you have, its limiting.
I need to make a night time spotter to scan around. A hand held uint is better than trying to swing the rifle around to see if anything is coming.
I think I have enough components to put together a spotter.
Maybe a 4.3 or 5'' screen. Still in the planning stage on that project.

Rick, Yea, a scanner would be a very good thing to have. Either of the screen sizes you mentioned would be good.

I have considered making one myself. As a matter of fact, I recently purchased a 5" monitor for that very purpose, and also for attaching another bullet camera for doing night-time video. I have plans to add a 940nm spot light and affix the whole thing (camera, light and monitor) to a tripod where I can scan and get video. The 940nm light is totally stealth with no visible glow at all. A simple and small 12 volt battery would power the whole thing.
