What bullet 25 or 30 and why. Who makes the best 25 gr and who makes the best 30 gr for coyotes

All else being equal, I'd take a good 25 over a 30 in .17 Rem capacity. The Rem just doesn't have quite enough capacity to really get the 30's into their sweet spot at 4100ish.
But all else is never really equal. I'd take a well constructed, accurate 30, over a splashy 25 all day every day. But if I had a stash of well constructed 25's, that's what I'd run.

25 gr that Remington started with in factory ammo.

25-30 gr the bullet needs to penetrate than start a wound cavity. I want 1-2 inches penetration and than 2" of wound channel, bullet fragments. No exit. Why light weight bullets don't have the energy of heavier bullets(at the same velocity), I want all available energy staying inside the animal. For max hydrostatic effect. I have a stash of 29 gr bullets so that's what I have been running. Next fall I may set up a 17 rem with a thermal, will use the 25 gr WCD or the Berger 25 gr target bullets I have managed to find.

A person had better have a stash of bullets of the past , if they want have good choices. Sold my last box of 25 gr Berger's not long ago.

All the good Coyote bullets in 17 Caliber are long gone now. In both 25 and 30 grain…. Unless you still have a stash that you bought years ago or know somebody that does you are SOL…. It’s a real shame too…

I have 25 gr Bergers. The ones you can get today. 500 25 gr Hornady Hollow Points 23gr WCD. 25gr WCD Golds and 30 gr Blackhole, which shoot incredibly in my 17 Remington.
I will be hunting Northern Nevada for four months this fall. Im confident that anyone of those bullets will work beautifully
