18” 22 creed barrel twist

Looking to build a 22 creed with a 18” proof barrel. Trying to decide on twist rate for the barrel. Would like to run 88 gr ELD-M handloads so I was thinking 1-7” twist. Anyone had any experience with this? Also, if I did go 1-7” twist do you think this barrel could still be used with the 80 grain ELD-M factory load, or would it be spinning too fast for the jacket to stay together?

Personally, I'd go with an 8 twist and shoot 75s or 80s.
However, the 7 twist will be fine with the 80s as well. With an 18" barrel, I doubt you'll be able to hit the velocity required to overspin them.

Ok. I had a 20” 1-8” twist 22 creedmoor that ran the 75 and 80 eldm really well, but didn’t seem to like the 88’s. That was my reasoning for looking at a 1-7 this time around.
