18 predators in one night and some more pictures!

I am new to the BB but thought I will share some pictures with you. I do ADC for a living in South Africa and has done it for the past 13 years. My best night ever was 19 jackal but unfortunately did not take any pictures. The second best night was 18 (12 jackal and 6 caracal, see pictures), which I achieved twice so far. Been to Colorado and Nebraska, called and shot some coyotes and found them to respond similar to the black back jackal here in South Africa. I hunt mainly at night and use a Lightforce light with rheostat exclusively. No red filter. I use a 22-250 Remington, with my trusted 22-250 Sako as a back-up. The pictures are located at http://picasaweb.google.com/jaracal4/Hunting#. Hope you enjoy. I would also like to know what is the most coyotes/cats taken by a single hunter in a day or night?-H

jaracal,
Man, you guys have unlimited critters over there. I wish I could afford a trip to Africa. Are you sure you're not using a turret mounted machinegun on one of those vehicles...lol wow /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Wow, does that even put a dent in the jackal population?

Hi jumprightinit
Not even close, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif game ranching is really picking up and those guys do not bother to much about jackal and caracal. I went out this year in March and shot 12 jackal in 4 hours on a game ranch to bring the numbers down. Lucky me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif. We had about 130 000 acres of small stock ranch area converted to game ranching in the last 4+ years. Meaning I will always stay busy! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That is really great - awesome pics! How would someone like myself find my way down to Africa to do some calling?

Yes, we unfortunately lost the war against England way back and have to license every firearm and have to re-license every 5 years for some and 10 years for others. Other than that we can use silencers(suppressors), may hunt through-out the year, are allowed to use spotlights to hunt predators at night, are allowed to hunt from a vehicle, actually not to bad.-H

Do you guys have rabies present in Africa?

SeekingTradDeer
Yes we have rabies in South Africa but it is pretty much under control, I have not had any encounter with an infected jackal in all of my 17 years of calling.-H

Jaracal great hunting and story
You ask about more than 18 predators in a night my best is 18 coyotes in 18 hours of daylight by myself
Not out of the back of a truck , walked in to every stand
1/4mile some oneway
I called over 30 coyotes just didnt have enough eyes and bullets flying to kill more than 18
This was last year on the 20Th of Oct
