i went back home to Suffolk,VA to visit a while and came back with a couple new toys and one is this Iver Johnson 9" target model in .22 cal.It was my great uncles and my dad decided to hand it down to me,so i am just wondering if anyone knows much about them or any old memories of shooting one back in the day at one point. My Uncle used to have one like that, but with a slightly shorter barrel (that looks to be the 10-12" model) that he kept by the kitchen window to use on any Fox that came around the chicken coop...They had two bad habits/weak points...

The cylinder locking pawl used to wear out/down pretty easy and it would allow the cylinder to get out of alignment and shave some lead when fired...The other was excessive wear on the star hand that turns the cylinder...

I think both parts must have been made out of mild steel and not hardened...Otherwise, they are good, and usually, very accurate handguns...

When we had family get togethers out at his farm, most of the men and older boys would wind up using it in a shooting contest at small targets stuck on the wooden fence post tops...Matches, cards, cigarettes with filters, etc...
