We are expecting winds for next couple days of 20+ mph winds I know the calling is not going to work. But I have about a mile high banked creek to hunt should I go and just find a good spot and sit or wait for winds to die down. Thanks. Kevin

I'd rather go call in the wind than sit at home. I travel 180+ days a year, by God if I'm home and can get away to hunt, I'm goin no matter what.

I'm with you brother. I've been working 7 days a week since March 1. A crappy day calling is way better than a good day at work.

O I am going getting up at 520 am walk across gravel road and walk right in to the creek I was just wanting a lil guidance Lols it is kinda flat over here where I am at so I was thinking of sitting on top edge of the bank there is a spot that is anout
600 ft long and straight thinking of sitting there.

You cant kill coyotes sitting at home. They still need to eat even if the wind is blowing. If you dont have far to travel, I would give it a try. Blow some loud hand calls.

Until a coyote shows up. A few times I've sat at the same stand for 3 days and nights. I'm always very hungry and tired after those kinda stands. Good luck and hope ya have a great THANKSGIVING.

Oh Doggin you are so full of it. You know right well that the coyotes would show up while you were dozing off.

Playing in the wind has certain "characteristics", which can be an advantage or a disadvantage, depending on whether you capitalize on them or not.

Sure, the wind makes it harder to pitch sounds INTO the wind, but it also carries your sound further downwind. It may carry your scent farther, but it also means it disperses your scent faster, etc etc. Just have to plan your sets accordingly.

I am with the rest of the fellas, give it a try. They still have to eat, you will be calling to a smaller number of coyotes because fewer will hear you. In a lot of wind I like to sit in more elevated areas and take advantage of the increased wind dispersing my scent more, you may try doing more stands closer together. Good luck.

Actually, high winds can be an advantage in coyote hunting if you are in an area of drainages, creek bottoms, low brushy areas and woodlots that adjoin open pasture, CRP grass and the like. Coyotes migrate to and hold up in these areas preferring not to cross open areas during higher winds. So if you can set up in any of these areas you may score better than you thought you would. TAKE A SHOTGUN.

check out predator xtreme back issues they have some great articles on calling in the wind.
I call no matter what the weather I am there and I going to learn as much as I can with the wind blowing. last month did call in the wind with e caller and misting canister called in several and killed 3.
calling in wind is risky because your calling downwind, dogs don't like to give up the nose, but will come in hard and fast so be ready for quick shots out to 300 yds.
