20" barreled shotgun and choke tube?

I've got a Mossberg 500 Turkey Special that has a 20" barrel. The factory extended choke tube will pattern #2 and smaller shot sizes, very well and at good distances.

However, I'm attempting to find someone with the same 20" barrel length on their shotgun. I'd like to purchase a good choke tube and quality ammo...for coyote hunting.

I'm hoping to get a decent/killing pattern out to 50 yards.

Anyone with a simular set up?

Thank you, Bowhunter57

You should get and do some testing for yourself. Not all guns will perform the same. It can get expensive, but it is the best way.

I will be picking up the Mossberg 835 turkey gun with the 20" overbored barrel this coming Wednesday. I'm real intereste din what would be a good choke for it your coyotes, so I'll definitely be paying attention to this thread!

my buddy has a 20" barreled 835 gun and it patterns very close to my 26" 870 but i think that has to also do with the overbored barrel. we both shoot 3" #4 buckshot by remington( cheap too). i use an x full pro factor choke(.670 constriction) and his 835 has a carlson x full choke( not sure of the constriction).

In my two Benelli M1S90's there wasn't much of a real difference between the 18 1/2" barrel of the Tactical Model and the 24" barrel of the Turkey Model.

GC,
Do you use either or both of these shotguns for coyotes? If so, what choke(s) and ammo combinations seem to pattern the best?

GC,
Thank you and that is a very informative article. I know how much work goes into such a project and can appreciate it too.

Looks like I'm going shopping for a .670" GT choke tube and some Remington HD in BBs.

Our local gun show is going on this weekend, so I'll have to get out there and see what they've got.

Then I got to get out there and get to killin' some coyotes.
